AZTEC is seeking a Drainage Designer/Engineer In Training (EIT) in our Phoenix, Arizona office to assist senior design personnel in developing and completing designs and contract documents.

Job Description:Design municipal and state projects for streets/highways/freeways involving roadway, drainage, utilities, and traffic engineering. Ability to function as a project engineer and understand all aspects of design and plan production. Preparation and checking of design calculations, quantities, cost estimates, and project plans. Self-motivated, technically proficient, possesses strong written and verbal communication skills and is team-oriented. Travel periodically within Arizona and neighboring states, while being physically capable of performing fieldwork.

Primary Job Duties:

Review and interpretation of hydrology and hydraulic reportsReview, interpretation, and understanding of design codesDevelopment of hydrology and hydraulic modelsUsing available open source software and tools to perform geographic information analysisEstablish and maintain schedules and offer progress reports on work performedJob Qualifications (Education, Experience, and Skills):

Minimum Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil EngineeringHolds an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certificate or able to obtain in 6 months of hireMinimum entry levelExperience using AutoCAD and/or MicroStation/OpenroadsProject Wise experience is a plusInRoads and Civil 3D experience a plusExperience using HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, QGIS, Python a plus.Strong verbal and written communication skills are requiredMust have solid skills in the following areas: planning and scheduling; organization; problem-solving; and decision makingCompetencies
