Duties and Responsibilities:As a User Experience Engineer, you will be charged with blending both technical expertise and mission knowledge in providing design support for a dynamic and forward-thinking team, contributing to the development, testing, and deployment of an enterprise-level financial and resource management system.Leverage UI/UX design expertise and collaborate with customers to analyze their needs, working closely with the development team to design a user interface that enhances the visual appeal and user experience of enterprise-level financial and resource management systems. Propose tailored solutions that align with business objectives and adhere to Section 508 requirements, ensuring seamless integration with user needs.Work with the technical team and Government leadership to prepare schedule inputs, communicate dependencies, impediments, risks, and communicate with the Freedom Program Management team.Define interface requirements by collaborating with users and stakeholders.Required

Experience:

A bachelor's degree in a technical discipline and seven (7) years of system engineering experience. Five (5) additional years of experience as a system engineer may be substituted in lieu of a degree.Experience with design products like Balsamiq, Axure RP, Figma, or Adobe Suite products like Illustrator, xD, and InDesign to design sitemaps, user flows, wireframes, and low-fidelity and high-fidelity mockups/prototypes.Understand foundational concepts in UX design, including user-centered design, accessibility, and equity-focused design.Experience articulating design concepts to a variety of audiences and explain any design decisions supported by industry standards and Usability Heuristics.Excellent communication skills, both writing and speaking.Ability to work and design independently or as a team.Experience with requirements management to include working with customers to capture clear definition of doneRegular work schedule must adhere to core hours of M-F 10am-2pm. Exceptions will be considered on a case-by-case basis.Desired Skills:

Experience with UI/UX designExperience with Atlassian Suite products including Confluence & JiraAbility to clearly communicate ambiguous or highly complex concepts to all audiences.Ability to understand the big picture and align the day-to-day activities to support that pictureExperience with Agile Development and Product ManagementCoding HTML and CSS is a plus, contributing to your rapid prototyping workflow, and you understand how it applies to responsive design.A design portfolio that showcases a variety or creative works, sketches, steps completed to complete a project, etc.Professional certifications in UX focused areas are encouraged.Experience with CSS, SCSS, & HTML is important.Beginner understanding of JavaScript frameworks.Understanding of WCAG guidelines and a working knowledge of ARIA.Experience in creating user personas, UAT test plans & test scenarios, user interviews, & other user feedback/requirements elicitation mechanisms.
