What will I bedoing?

We are seeking a talented Cartographer / GIS Visualization Specialist / Graphic Designer to join our dynamic team. This role involves creating visually compelling maps, graphics, and visualizations using Geographic Information Systems (GIS), graphic design software, and other graphic/charting tools. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in both GIS technology and graphic design principles, enabling them to transform complex spatial data into clear, engaging, and informative visual content.

Key Responsibilities:

Map Creation and Design:

Develop high-quality maps and spatial visualizations for various projects using GIS software.

Create aesthetically pleasing and informative cartographic products that effectively communicate spatial data and their relationships.

Data Visualization:

Design and produce visual content, including charts, infographics, and other visual aids to support spatial analysis and data storytelling.

Utilize advanced data visualization techniques to present complex data in an accessible and engaging manner.

Graphic Design:

Apply graphic design principles to enhance the visual appeal of GIS products.

Design brochures, posters, and other promotional materials that incorporate spatial data and maps.

Collaboration and Communication:

Work closely with project managers, analysts, and other stakeholders to understand project requirements and translate them into visual solutions.

Present and explain visualizations and design concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

Quality Assurance:

Ensure accuracy and quality of all visual products by conducting thorough reviews and adhering to design standards.

Maintain consistency in visual output by following established brand guidelines and design principles.

KeyQualifications

:Working experience with ESRI GIS Platforms such as ArcGIS Desktop/Pro, ArcGIS Hub, ArcGIS Online, StoryMaps, Dashboards, Experience Builder, or similar platforms for spatial data analysis and map creation.Strong understanding of GIS principles, spatial data concepts, geospatial data formats (raster and vector), projections, and coordinate systems.Sound knowledge of cartographic design principles to include map layouts and components, as well as the display and symbology of spatial values and their representation.Use experience with graphic design software such as Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign) for designing visual contentExperienced in data visualization packages such as Power BI and Tableau for visualizing spatial and tabular data.Strong attention to detail and a keen eye for aesthetics.Ability to learn, adopt to new technologies, and having a strong written and verbal communication skills.

Do you have...

Bachelor's degree in Geography, GIS, Urban Planning, Data Science, or related field of study.3 years of experience working with local government, nonprofit programs, school or in job related dutiesPreferred Qualifications:

Master's degree in Geography, GIS, Urban Planning, Data Science, or related field of study.Strong portfolio showcasing graphic design work, particularly in creating maps and spatial data visualizations.

Expected Hiring Salary Range

$51,000.00 - $68,000.00
