The Center for Global Development (CGD) is an independent, non-partisan, non-profit policy research organization in Washington, DC and London, UK that focuses on the issues and institutions that are critical to inclusive development. Through rigorous empirical research and active engagement with the global policy community, we focus on the policy intersections of low- and middle-income countries and the governments, institutions, and corporations that can be partners in delivering greater progress.Events are a vital communications tool to advance our mission, and CGD has a reputation for hosting dynamic, agenda-setting conversations with high-profile development policymakers and leading researchers. Each year CGD hosts around 100 live events, including high-level private roundtables, public panel discussions and conferences, and workshops in our on-site conference center, online, and at external sites.The successful candidate will be a dynamic and hands-on implementer responsible for planning and producing a busy calendar of events from concept to execution. This will include program development, coordinating relevant logistics, and developing marketing content in collaboration with internal experts and external stakeholders in order to promote events. Successful candidates are self-starters, used to working in an agile, fast-paced environment; practical and detailed oriented and entrepreneurial; always looking for opportunities to extend our reach and elevate CGD’s voice.Responsibilities:+ Plan and produce thought leadership events: Coordinate with internal staff to manage all program elements including program development, registration, speaker communications and logistics, event run-of-show, A/V rundown and other technical elements, events follow up, i.e. feedback forms and reporting. Shares event information to foster omni-channel promotion.+ + For digital-first programs, produces event using the Restream platform and works with speakers to set up technical and aesthetic elements including, audio levels, camera framing, lighting, and backdrop elements.+ + For in-person or hybrid programs, manages attendee lists, name plates/badges, and other supporting documents. Coordinates with program staff and press secretaries to facilitate journalist access. Work with relevant staff on content and production, including A/V equipment, catering, branding and visuals and any other required elements. Secures and manages other event vendors as needed including catering, photographer, venue, production staff, etc.+ Develop digital marketing content to promote CGD events: For each program, the Associate will develop a timely and targeted email marketing campaign, event listing and registration form on CGDs website using Salesforce and Pardot email platforms.+ Manage internal event operations, planning and resources: Serves as a liaison to staff in London and Washington, DC tracking event data and feedback for future strategic planning; develops external relationships and monitors best practices to foster program innovation.+ + Contributes to ongoing maintenance of an internal events calendar tracking key program logistical and production details, library of event planning resources and templates, and video/photos database.+ Provide event management expertise to all colleagues to assist in the delivery of their program plans, including Institutional Advancement to facilitate stakeholder engagement.+ Develop how-to guides and other resources to educate staff and external partners in event planning and production “best practices.” Provides planning and logistics support for staff events/meetings and other internal learning sessions, including gathering insight, conducting evaluations, sharing information with program colleagues, securing speakers, catering, and/or IT tools for successful programs.+ + Provide in person and remote support to large CGD events as required (e.g. Annual Meetings of the World Bank and IMF)+ Participating in communications team activities, including brainstorming tactics for promotion of all CGD/E content, research and events.Qualifications:+ Bachelor’s degree required and 2+ years relevant work experience.+ Experience creating event programs, identifying speakers and other contributors and managing all aspects of speaker relations pre-, during and post-event.+ Significant experience producing digital-first and/or hybrid events utilizing streaming software (e.g., Restream, Zoom), with or without the support of external production teams.+ Familiarity procuring, negotiating with and managing external suppliers including working with venues, designers, catering, etc.+ Demonstrable experience using digital and traditional media to promote events+ Experience with contact databases (Salesforce), and event booking and management software.+ Experience with web (Drupal, Wordpress, or equivalent) and email marketing tools (Pardot or similar) preferred+ Proficient in Microsoft Office and online meeting platforms.+ Strong project management and organizational skills+ Strong interpersonal skills, collaboration, and ability to build effective relationships with a wide range of stakeholders+ Creative problem solving+ Excellent presentation and communication skills.+ Familiarity with and demonstrated interest in global development. A good understanding of the global development community and stakeholders.+ Demonstrated success in managing multiple and changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.+ Excellent written, verbal, and people skills.+ Grace-under-pressure, good judgment, and professional presence.+ Self-starter with extraordinary attention to detail, strong work ethic, and sense of humor.Salary range - $57,000 - $68,000 annually.
