Grant Writer Job Description

The Foundation for Hispanic Education (TFHE) was established in 1981 as a product of the late Dr. B. Roberto Cruz's vision of providing quality education and support for all underserved learners, with a focus on Latino students.

With 106 committed staff members, TFHE now serves over 1,050 students from the community neighborhoods of Mayfair, Mt. Pleasant, Sylvandale, Santee, and Alum Rock in East San Jose. TFHE operates three charter high schools.

Position Summary:The Grant Writer Position is tasked with original drafting, collection of information, monitoring, reporting, and submission of grant applications on behalf of The Foundation for Hispanic Education Schools. Their core duties include responding to requests for proposals (RFPs) and request for Applications (RFAs) to support the development and goals of the organization.Duties and responsibilities:

Research and monitor, educational, foundational, and corporate funding opportunities via Internet, printed publications, distribution lists, existing partner announcements, and organizational contacts.Ensure that all sections of a proposal are complete as designated by Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and Requests for Applications (RFAs) and potential funding sources to accurately capture existing and proposed TFHE programs.Conduct formal solicitation, negotiation, and administration of grants and contracts, from government and non-government sponsors, including complex, non-routine proposals and awards for sponsored projects.Work with the Chief Executive Officer to align proposals with funding priorities of the organization and its school sites.Prepare professional letters for such as Letters of Inquiry and Solicitation Letters to potential funding sources, including foundations, agencies, authorizers, individual donors, and community giving circles.Prepare monthly reports regarding submission, documentation, and responses.Develop an Annual Giving Report for the Chief Executive Officer, Governance Team, and Executive Team for data review and understanding funding sources.Identify and cultivate relationships with potential donors, sponsors, and partners on a regular basis with inclusion of key personnel from TFHE.Collaboration with other personnel on marketing, funder appreciation posts, letters of thanks, giveaway items, and related acknowledgements.Lead Giving Tuesday and End of Year solicitation efforts with TFHE Schools.Reconciliation of expenditures, budgets, and funding guidelines for each grant received in compliance with California Department of Education Code.Development of fundraising events for areas including but not limited to general instruction, after school programs, supplemental instruction, mental health services, technology, and family emergency funds.Lead the facilitation of meetings with key personnel to collect content, metrics, key performance indicators (KPI), and solicitations for organizational funding.Update website pages for giving, including donation pages, spotlight pages, website announcements, and related donation collection accounts.Outreach and engagement for in-kind donations for core school programs and resource distributions in partnership with the Community Outreach Team.Qualifications

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, including area of study in education or related field requiredTwo (2) years of related work experience is preferred, to include grant research, writing, and evaluationExperience with non-profits and public K-12 educational setting preferred

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

The Community School Coordinator is required to attend professional development sessions facilitated by TFHE schools. Each training session will provide opportunities for capacity building and growth, collaborative discussions, and understanding of administrative responsibilities.
