Position Summary:

The Director of Corporate Communications will help define and lead public relations and communications strategies and programs for WHY Brands companies Munchkin, Inc. and Curio to increase brand awareness and drive growth.

What you will do:

  • Corporate Communications
    • Contribute to the development and execution of internal and external communications strategies
    • Develop and write communication narratives across channels to support business strategies including press releases, newsletters, presentations, and other external and internal communications
    • Executive communication support: Guide, recommend, brief, and write executive leadership media and speaking opportunities as directed by the Sr. Director of Corporate Communications
    • Create high-quality, persuasive, and strategic presentations and communications for an audience that includes partners, senior management, shareholders, and the board of directors
    • Crisis communication: Execute a proactive and reactive crisis communications program to respond to important issues and protect the company's reputation
  • Public Relations
    • Contribute to the development and execution of the overall public relations strategy for Munchkin and Curio
    • Develop, create, and manage PR strategies, plans, and activations for new product launches
    • Media relations: Drive and manage media relations strategies designed to enhance the brand and corporate reputation
    • Drive media relations, media placements, and press coverage
    • Ensure brand presence is amplified across earned media platforms, through programs and events designed to keep Munchkin and Curio in the news, on social media, and across relevant storytelling platforms
    • Develop and execute product immersions and gifting programs
    • Campaign management
    • Oversee PR best practices, monitor programs, department goals, KPIs, and test and learn to find optimal approaches
  • Corporate Social Responsibility
    • Identify and build partnerships to increase visibility and ensure breakthrough CSR communications
    • Develop and implement CSR communications on internal and external channels
    • Maintain ongoing data base of company's CSR efforts and reporting, including the UN Global Compact and SDG reporting
    • Lead global sustainability initiatives
    • Develop company sustainability and impact report
    • Develop and drive the company's sustainability narrative internally and externally for key product launch
    • Community Relations: Help to build and steward relationships between the brand and key community stakeholders to create greater brand advocacy
    • Assist in identifying and working with external stakeholders to pursue and promote CSR's key objectives (UN, NGOs, governments, charities, companies)
    • Develop and maintain company blog and Podcast in line with content strategy
    • Support LinkedIn strategy management and create compelling content with key messaging in line with strategy
  • Agency Management
    • Under the direction of the Sr. Director of Corporate Communications, manage external agency partnerships and communicate priorities for Munchkin and Curio
    • Work in collaboration with other team members and agency partners to ensure initiatives have 360-degree support and alignment across all channels
  • Other duties may be assigned

You Will Have:

  • 8+ years’ experience in corporate communications and public relations experience. Consumer product industry experience is a must.
  • 8+ years’ experience building and leading a powerful team and demonstrated skill in managing people.
  • Experience running public relations as a business and driving against measurable KPIs impactful to the business
  • Strong creative thinking, storytelling, and written and verbal communication skills. Must have excellent skills in writing press releases and all content that demonstrates a clear and consistent brand voice.
  • A strong track record working with top-tier press
  • Analytical skills and the ability to use digital tools to find actionable insights through data
  • A collaborative nature with finesse in developing relationships cross-functionally
  • Meaningful experience with agency/vendor management
