Polysomnographic Technologist

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT), will assist Board Certified Sleep Medicine Providers to screen and assess clinic outpatients for sleep disorders. The RPSGT plays a crucial role in promoting healthy sleep habits, diagnosing sleep disorders, and educating patients on effective strategies for improving sleep quality. The RPSGT will communicate directly with patients, families, and at community events to educate individuals on sleep disorders, good sleep hygiene, ways to optimize treatment, methods to improve and monitor compliance with prescribed treatment, and in general assists patients in eliminating barriers to care to maximize their quality of life. This position will work closely with Board Certified Sleep Specialists, Sleep Center Staff, medical staff, caregivers, and other outside medical personnel as well as DME providers.

EDUCATION:

Associates Degree Required, Bachelors and above preferred.

EXPERIENCE:

Minimum of 2 years of direct patient care in sleep medicine.

SPECIAL SKILLS:

Special Skills/Qualifications

Current CPR (BCLS) Certification required. Certified Clinical Sleep Educator (CSE). Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) Certification required. NJ State Polysomnography Required. Certification by the Board of Registered Certified Clinical Sleep Health Specialist (CCSH) or eligibility to obtain certification within 1 year.

Must be a self-starter, able to multi-task,

Ability to perform work accurately and pay attention to details, changing from one task to another without loss of efficiency or composure.

Prioritization working in a high-volume, distracting environment with little supervision. Working independently as well as in a team environment.

Exercise sound judgment. Take initiative in finding solutions to difficult and/or sensitive problems.

Consistently displays professional conduct during interactions and demonstrates an understanding of the importance of inter- and intra-departmental communication. Computer software experience including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint.

Strong communication skills, both oral and written. Must easily adapt, and support multiple professionals at all levels of Valley Health System: staff, management, physicians and executives. Functions as a role model for all team members to foster the development and maintenance of a collaborative team. Ability to support company-wide efforts to improve and maintain a high level of patient/customer satisfaction as evidenced by (but not limited to) customer/patient satisfaction survey scores and other organizational and System's targets and goals.
