Job Description:Senior Web DeveloperOffice of Information TechnologyThe Senior Web Developer is responsible for planning, designing, coding, documenting, testing and maintaining custom web applications that support Brown's faculty, staff, and students. In this role, the incumbent must facilitate productive relationships with a diverse constituency. As a member of Brown’s developer community, the senior web developer assists in establishing and promoting common development methodologies and tools to ensure all local systems integrate with the broader campus IT infrastructure. The senior web developer collaborates with the team to promote standardization and efficiencies across the division and to maintain a secure and reliable computing environment aligned with OIT's established standards and industry best practices.Job Qualifications+ BA/S in Computer Science or related field and 2-3 years of related technical experience+ Demonstrated expertise in developing and maintaining database-driven web applications with advanced knowledge of various relational database management systems. MySQL strongly preferred+ Demonstrated project management, planning, and process modeling skills+ Proficiency with programming languages related to web application development, including HTML, CSS, PHP, JavaScript, Node.js+ Proficiency with application development frameworks, including Laravel, Next.js, Kohana, Codeigniter, etc. Laravel strongly preferred+ Proficiency with frontend development frameworks, including React, Vue. React strongly preferred+ Strong debugging and problem solving skills+ A strong curiosity and ability for learning new technologies (frameworks, programming languages, methodologies etc)+ Advanced knowledge of Git+ Experience with shell scripting+ OK with being a member of the team’s on-call rotation+ Some experience with CMSs.
