Teacher of the Visually Impaired_

CiTi BOCES has a full-time opening for a Teacher of the Visually Impaired effective September 1, 2024.Responsibilities:+ Conduct assessments and evaluations to determine students’ visual impairments and their impact on learning.+ Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with visual impairments.+ Provide direct instruction and support to students in areas such as braille literacy, orientation and mobility, and adaptive technology.+ Collaborate with classroom teachers, parents, and other specialists to ensure students’ access to the curriculum.+ Adapt materials and teaching strategies to meet the unique needs of visually impaired students.+ Teach skills related to daily living, independent travel, and social interaction.+ Attend IEP meetings and contribute expertise on visual impairment.+ May work with students who have additional disabilities.+ Itinerant responsibilities will travel to multiple locations.Job Qualifications+ New York State certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired.+ Knowledge of braille and assistive technology.+ Experience working with students with visual impairments preferred.+ Strong communication and collaboration skills.Position Start Date:10/01/2024Application Deadline:08/01/2024Job Number: T062120241
