NBMBAA Director of Public Relations

develops and implements strategic communication plans. The incumbent works to enhance the organization's reputation and public image. The incumbent will also shape public perception and build relationships with stakeholders. This includes media, customers, employees, and the general public. The Director oversees all public relations activities, ensuring that messaging aligns with NBMBAA's mission, vision, and values.About us:The mission of the

is to lead in the creation of educational, wealth building, and growth opportunities for those historically underrepresented throughout their careers as students, entrepreneurs and professionals.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Public RelationsDevelop and implement comprehensive public relations strategies and campaigns to promote the organization's brand, products, and services.Create and maintain strong relationships with media outlets, journalists, and influencers to generate positive media coverage and secure interviews and feature stories.Write and distribute press releases, media advisories, and other materials to communicate key messages and announcements to the media and the public.Collaborate with internal teams, including programming, development, events operations and executive leadership, to ensure consistent messaging across all communication channels.Manage external PR agencies and contractors to maximize budget and align with overall strategy.Plan and execute special events, such as program launches, fundraisers, and community initiatives, to enhance the organization's visibility and engage with key stakeholders.Thought LeadershipResearch, develop and organize external speaking engagements for the CEO and other members of management and members of the Board of Directors.Locate and develop mission-appropriate thought leadership opportunities. Develop content in collaboration with the CEO, VP, Brand and other members of senior leadership.CommunicationsServe as an organizational spokesperson and represent it during interviews, press conferences, and public events.Develop crisis communication plans and guide the organization's response during reputational crises or emergencies, providing timely and accurate information to the media and the public.Monitor and manage NBMBAA's online reputation by responding to inquiries and comments on social media and other digital platforms.Management and ReportingMonitor media coverage and prepare reports to evaluate the effectiveness of public relations campaigns and identify areas for improvement.Stay up-to-date with industry trends, current events, and emerging issues that may impact the organization's reputation and recommend proactive strategies to address them.Liaise regularly with the VP, Brand; provide input on organizational strategy from communications perspective that provides actionable insight.Required Qualifications:Bachelor's degree and 10+ years job-related experience required in marketing, communications, and public relations.Master's Degree preferred.Experience in both the non-profit and for-profit sectors is ideal. Agency experience is a plus.Must be an excellent writer with experience in writing a range of communications materials.A detail-oriented self-starter and hands-on strategist who will develop and oversee the execution of initiatives from start to finish.Key Skills and Abilities:Commitment to the mission and work of NBMBAA with the credibility and persuasiveness to convince others to support the organization.Demonstrated professionalism, accuracy, excellent organizational skills, planning, research, effective oral and written communication skills.Computer skills with high proficiency in MS Word, Windows, MS Excel, MS Outlook and MS PowerPoint, Internet Savvy. Experience with MailChimp and/or other mass communication programs is a plus.Understanding of digital marketing analytics, website, and social media metrics.A collaborative and flexible style, with a strong service mentality. A team player who is committed to organizational success and lifelong learning.A hands-on manager with unquestioned integrity and a desire to work in a dynamic, mission-driven, values-based environment.An effective communicator, with strong oral, written, and presentation skills.Strong commitment to developing team members.A passion for the organization's mission is essential.All Staff Duties:Serves as leader to assure strong communications between NBMBAA and all external constituents.Actively seeks to learn the history of NBMBAA.Supports and promotes the association's mission.Assists in the planning and implementation of special events.Attends staff meetings.Performs other duties as assigned.NBMBAA is an equal opportunity employer.
