SeniorSupervisory role : YesClassification :Exempt, full-timeAbout our organization:Democracy Works helps millions of Americans vote by providing reliable, useful voting guidance through the sites, apps and groups they trust.We’re a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization that works with election officials across the country, as well as tech platforms like Google and TikTok, nonprofit groups like AARP and DoSomething, academic institutions like Princeton University and University of Florida, and workplaces like Starbucks and Salesforce to help voters whenever and wherever they need it.Democracy Works is committed to diversity and inclusion in everything we do and aspires to have a team that's representative of the voters we serve.The impact you’ll make:As the leader of the Marketing & Communications team, you will ensure the vision of Democracy Works is clearly and creatively articulated to our stakeholders in a variety of contexts for our internal and external audiences, promoting the mission, products, and brand of Democracy Works across several channels.As the Director of Marketing and Communication, you will :Develop and lead the implementation of a comprehensive marketing and communications strategy that aligns with the organization’s goals and enhances visibility across all channelsLead the development and implementation of a comprehensive brand framework aligned with business objectives, fostering a brand-centric culture across the organizationImplement, own, and manage marketing and communications efficiency tools and processes including project management and resource managementBe the subject matter expert on marketing and communications technology platformsStay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and the competitive landscape of civic technologyLead search engine optimization (SEO) and search engine marketing (SEM) efforts to improve organic and paid search rankings, drive website traffic, and increase conversionsUtilize data and analytics to measure success and optimize performance of marketing efforts and strategiesDevelop content strategy and oversee the creation and distribution of engaging and relevant content about elections and civics initiatives across digital platforms to attract, engage, and retain target audiencesCoordinate go-to-market efforts, including market research, building and telling a product story, developing a content and messaging strategy, and carrying out marketing campaigns for new offeringsSupport the sales team with compelling marketing collateral, targeted campaigns, and lead generation initiatives that drive revenue growth and market expansion.Analyze and define key market segments in collaboration with Sales and Development teams creating strategies, content, and collateral tailored to each target segmentCollaborate with Product team to shape product roadmaps and prioritize marketing efforts around feature and launch planningManage relationships with external vendors and assigned agencies, ensuring the delivery of high-quality services and solutionsRecruit, hire, train, and retain staff needed for success. This includes providing ongoing support and direction to team members, while indirectly managing all employees in the department to track performance, engagement, and professional developmentExecute on other projects as may be assignedYou are someone with:7+ years of experience in marketing with at least 5 of those years being in product or SaaS marketing3+ years of experience managing direct reportsProficient with content and campaign management systems and CRMs for marketing automation (we use WebFlow, Squarespace, Mailchimp, Salesforce, and Hubspot)Experience using data to glean insight to improve the performance of marketing and communications programs.Experience making the most of modest marketing budgets, iterating on strategies for maximum impact, and making resourcing recommendations to leadershipKnowledge of marketing communications best practices and multiple channel executionA knack for proactive problem solving, while able to adhere to standard operational procedures and deadlines.Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines and shifting priorities and be willing to "roll up your sleeves'' to drive organizational change.Ability to inspire and move a cross-functional team in a unified direction and with a unified vision.It’s a plus if you have:Experience in the civic engagement, democracy, and social impact spaceFamiliarity with civic technologyExperience marketing SaaS productsHow we workBecause elections take place everywhere, our employees work from all across the country. We embrace working remotely as the default. Our positions require regular, daily use of a computer (including the use of G-Suite and Slack) to conduct work and communicate with colleagues. We also have regular operating hours (10 am to 6 pm Eastern, Monday to Friday).For those who prefer to work from an office, we are headquartered in Brooklyn, NY.
