Take the next step in your career journey with Gemline-we're not just a company; we're a community.We're seeking a product obsessed Industrial Designer who is passionate about soft goods and has experience designing bags such as backpacks, coolers, totes and duffels. In this role you will be a part of our team, responsible for trend research, innovative product solutions and storytelling that will help create our future product assortment at Gemline.The ideal candidate will be a curious and creative problem solver who enjoys working in a collaborative environment. In this role you report to the Director of Design and you'll work on both the in-line assortment and our custom business. You will have an opportunity to design licensed items for our brand partners and custom projects for various businesses and retail brands.A DAY IN THE LIFE:

Create new cross category collections of soft sided bags and accessories including backpacks, coolers, totes, and duffels.Innovate through in depth cultural, product, and consumer trend research. Synthesize research and translate insights into thoughtful products that are relevant to the consumer.Champion hands-on exploration to create new, innovative design concepts and collections through concept sketches, virtual renderings, prototyping and 3D printing.Build accurate technical drawings and three-quarter views to communicate visually with our technical center team in China.Responsible for product development, working on multiple projects simultaneously from concept through final prototype, in accordance with the launch calendar.Obsess over the details to deliver functional items with features that the consumer will value.Involve key stakeholders in decisions. Share information, solve problems, and come to a consensus when you recognize the need for collaboration.Refine product concepts to meet business objectives and production requirements.Present and communicate trend research, product direction, and supporting narrative stories, confidently, to both internal and external audiences.Cultivates and manages strong professional relationships and embraces the value of different perspectives.Embrace a lean work environment and look for ways to continuously evolve standard processes and implement improvements.QUALIFICATIONS:Bachelor's degree in Industrial Design2+ years industry experience in product designMust have experience in cut and sew soft goods categories such as backpacks, coolers, duffels, and totes.Strong ability to design and develop products that function well, have marketable features, and meet production requirementsPassion for research and synthesis of cultural, product, and consumer trendsAbility to create impactful visual and verbal communication and presentation skills for varied audiencesEnthusiasm for Travel, both domestic and international, up to 5% of your total hoursMust be proficient in the Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesignBasic knowledge of SolidWorks a plusSkillful in Microsoft Office, especially PowerPointMUST HAVES:Possesses an entrepreneurial spirit and continuously innovates to achieve great results.Establishes and maintains trusting relationships through collaboration, clear, honest communication and humility. Creates a space for others to do the same.Obsesses over details, working to achieve the highest standard of personal performance.Exceptional organization skills required as well as the ability to proactively self-prioritize workflow based on deadlines in a fast-paced environmentAcknowledges the presence of choice in every moment, foreseeing and taking action to deal with future events, problems and opportunities.Integrates curiosity and imagination into their creative process to inspire fresh solutions and new ideas.IMPORTANT NOTICE: Our company takes the security and privacy of job applicants very seriously.
