Animation Director

We are currently searching for an Animation Director to lead the animation team for our upcoming American football game. In this role, you are responsible for all character animations, ensuring they meet the highest standards of quality and realism.

In this position, you will:

• Manage, mentor, and provide artistic direction to the animation team.
• Scale the animation team as needed to meet current production demands with a combination of full-time hires, freelancers, and external vendors.
• Review and provide constructive feedback on animation dailies.
• Plan, coordinate, and direct mocap sessions.
• Develop, implement, and continuously improve the animation pipeline and workflow to optimize efficiency and maintain best practices.
• Collaborate with designers and engineers to ensure the successful integration of animations in the game and improve the overall player experience.

Ideally, you have:

• Exceptional knowledge of traditional animation, body mechanics, and realistic human movement.
• Expertise in animation tools and software, such as Maya.
• Strong understanding of animation pipelines, including motion capture and data integration, and real-time animation systems and their limitations.
• 3+ years of experience in game development or equivalent experience in a related field (e.g., film, TV, VFX).
• Proficient professional communication skills in English.
• Passion for American football and/or other sports is highly desirable.
