Graphic Design/Prepress Tech Job Details:

Schedule: M-F 8am - 4:30pmPay Rate: $24 - $28 DOE

Graphic Design/Prepress Tech Job Description:

1. Read workorder as well as all notes and instructions (customer notes, digital paperwork, etc.).

2. Use Adobe Create Suite software (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, and Acrobat) to check incoming work to determine if all elements of the job conform to specifications.

3. Ensure that we have all fonts needed for the job and resolve font conflicts.

4. Check for type reflow.

5. Identify missing images and inform customer.

6. Identify color issues (RGB, spot colors, etc.).

7. Identify page layout issues (wrong margins, no page bleed, wrong page count, etc.).

8. Perform basic troubleshooting.

9. Communicate concerns found in preflight procedure to Account/Project Manager, customer, and/or production personnel.

10. Work directly with Account/Project Manager /customer as necessary to resolve issues/problems.

11. Create press-ready files for production (imposition, add crop marks, export as correct file type).

12. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a high level of accuracy. Effective communication both verbally and in writing.

13. Ability to intuitively reason, analyze information and events, and apply judgment in order to solve problems of both a routine and complex nature. Strong organizational and computer skills.

Graphic Design/Prepress Tech Job Requirements:

Have a working knowledge of Fiery Command Workstation

Have experience with wide format or other digital printing equipment.

Adobe Creative Suite

Comfortable with both Windows and Mac OS

Minimum of Associates Degree and/or 2+ years sign/print shop experience.

The ideal candidate has a experience in Visual Communication, Graphic Design, or a related field and at least one year of professional experience

He or she must be highly organized and detail-oriented with strong interpersonal and communication skills and experience with graphic design software for Adobe Creative Suite

College degree or experience in Visual Communication, Graphic Design, or a related field

One year of relevant experience required, provide portfolio (freelance accepted)

Thorough knowledge of inDesign and Illustrator

Communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with clients, staff, vendors, and others.

Self-reliant; able to work independently and accept responsibility for projects.

Strong organizational skills, able to switch tasks easily, and can manage time to meet frequently changing deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Strong attention to detail and interest in accuracy with strong eye for color.

Highly professional and dependable

EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Formal training and experience in Graphic Design/Prepress

Digital printing experience is preferred.

Associates/Bachelors degree preferred.

Knowledge & Experience of the Adobe Creative Suite:

Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign.

Knowledge of the PDF/X file format.

Knowledge of color profiling processes a plus but not required.

Ability to come up with basic designs and layouts in these programs following customer instructions.
