Seattle Indian Health Board (SIHB) is seeking a Design Associate who understands that clear and effective messaging and design is needed to create impact. This person is able to communicate across both print and digital mediums and work with a team of communications experts that consists of strategists, project managers, writers, and designers. This person is also interested in working at an organization dedicated to the health of American Indian/Alaska Native people and on projects that have real-life impact on Native communities.

Organizational Structure/Reporting Relationships:

This position reports directly to the Design Manager.

Organizational Responsibilities

Support the Communications Team in the development of deliverables outlined incommunications plans.Support directors, program managers, and project leads by creating layout designs for communications and promotional materials, including but not limited to:Publications, reports, and informational handoutsEvent collateralDigital and social graphicsTemplates for Adobe CC and Microsoft OfficeOther materials, as needed.Develop creative concepts and directions for use across multiple channels (print, web, email,social media, and more)Develop timelines and identify benchmarks to ensure all deliverables are met.Design and develop digital templates for staff.Handle all aspects of production, from quote requests to selecting vendors, through final product receipt and tracking.Participate in team meetings (brainstorms, planning sessions, etc.) for marketing and communications work.Coordinate directly with communications teams, directors, and program managers throughout projects.Work within brand guidelines and contribute to the growth of the organizational design system.Collaborate with Communications Team as needed to ensure work is aligned with broader, long-term communications goals.Collaborate on other projects as needed and take on other job-related duties as assignedQualifications

Required Skills

Ability to work with a wide variety of people, Native, non-native, researchers, healthcare professionals, and the general public.Proficiency in layout, typography, and production for print and screenPreparing and packaging files for vendor hand-off or client deliveryStrong organization and communication skillsProficiency in the Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and Microsoft Word and PowerPointExperience preparing comps and mock-ups.Desired SkillsDirect experience working with American Indian and Alaska Native people and communities.Writing and editing experienceSystems thinkingExperience with technologies and best practices for web design, web production, and creative design across multiple platformsExperience with both Windows and macOSPhotography and videography, video editingCoordinate with the communications team to develop video strategy and identify content opportunities.Video editing experienceQualificationsBachelor's degree in graphic design or visual communication design, or a related field,Or equivalent experience2-3 years of layout design experience

Work Environment:

Office hours are currently 4-10 work schedule worked between Monday-Friday. The position requires all work to be performed on-site. Not eligible for remote work.
