JOB TITLE: PhotographerDEPARTMENT: PhotographyREPORTS TO: Director, Visual MediaCLASSIFICATION: Full-Time, ExemptREMOTE WORK ELIGIBILITY: Project BasedGENERAL SUMMARYUnder the supervision of the Director, Visual Media , the Museum Photographer will photograph the museum's collection, galleries and exhibition spaces, document visitors in and around the museum, special events and exhibitions .ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS+ Photograph artwork for the purpose of publication, academic research, marketing , grant applications , and donor requests.+ Handle delicate artwork, equipment, and other materials without causing damage.+ Photograph the interior and exterior of the museum, museum visitors, museum events and special exhibitions for archives, marketing, general documentation, grant applications , and donor requests.+ Photograph portraits of museum staff, donors, potential donors, visitors, and other museum-related persons.+ Edit image files, using a variety of techniques, to create complimentary and accurate representations of the art objects, for publication use, academic use, marketing purposes, grant usage, and any other museum-related uses.+ Apply correct file name and metadata to digital assets to ensure correct labeling.+ Establish proper functioning backups of all photographic work.+ Perform general computer maintenance, software, firmware, installation, and updates to ensure all studio digital equipment (computers and camera equipment) is functioning, compatible, and running efficiently.+ Perform color calibration of all studios digital equipment to ensure uniformity.+ Schedule art object moves in collaboration with the Collections Management Team for art objects selected for photography .+ Create mounts and supports for photographing art objects in a safe and complimentary manner.+ Apply DIA values to interactions to support a culture of belonging among internal and external stakeholders.+ Perform other duties as assigned.QUALIFICATIONSEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCEA ssociate s degree in p hotography or related field requir ed . Two (2) years of experience with portrait, object (still-life), architectural, and /or event photography required . Additional years of experience may be substituted for degree requirement.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES+ Experience with Photoshop, Adobe Creative Suite, including Lightroom.+ Experience with digital camera systems and image capture devices, including SLR cameras, medium format cameras, and film scanners.+ Knowledge of classic photographic principles, including using shift lenses for depth-of-field perspective and focus control, use of filters, and ability to blend ambient and artificial lighting .+ A bility to troubleshoot mechanical and digital systems and knowledge of color theory and perception .+ Demonstrated collaboration skills to work across departments and divisions internally and with diverse stakeholders externally.+ Demonstrated skills to prioritize and complete multiple tasks to meet deadlines and goals.+ Demonstrated ability to work with attention to detail and produce accurate results.+ Must be able to travel independently within assigned communities in Wayne Oakland and Macomb Counties .+ Ability to provide information, ideas, and instructions clearly, effectively, and professionally through talking or writing .+ Ability to read non-verbal communication from subjects while photographing to ensure a comfortable experience.+ Must possess a demonstrated understanding of ethical business conduct and professional practices including maintenance and protection of confidential and sensitive information .+ Ability to work occasional weekend and evening hours for special events .+ Must be proficient in the latest version of Office 365.+ Must have proficiency in the use of remote work technology such as scheduling with, connecting to, and using digital collaboration platforms such as Microsoft Teams.+ Must be able to establish and maintain professional, productive and courteous interactions that promote positive teamwork .
