Through a blend of engaging activities, compassionate mentorship, and leadership development, we strive to make a positive and lasting impact on the lives of the youth we serve.Job Summary:Project Avary is seeking an experienced grant writer to support our fund development efforts. This position will work alongside our Executive Director and our Director of Fund Development to play a pivotal role in sustaining and expanding Project Avary's impact. This position will focus on grant writing and grant research for foundations and government grants. Additionally they will craft fundraising appeals to high worth donors.We are seeking individuals who are passionate about supporting our mission-driven work. The ideal candidate will have at least 4 years of grant writing experience with a demonstrated history of success with foundation and government grants.Project Avary has a $3million budget, with $2million coming from foundations and government grants.Key Responsibilities:Proposal and Report Writing (80% of time)Lead the grant writing and submission process for $2million - $3million in grants.Conceive, write and submit letters of inquiry, proposals and reports.Build and nurture relationships with private foundationsCollaborate closely with the director of development, the head of programs, and the executive director, to create compelling materials for submission.Collaborate with the director of finance to create budget and financial reports for proposals and reports.Support program directors to gather relevant data and program information for proposals and reports.Solicit letters of support from community partners and local government agencies.Update Salesforce database with funder information.Prospect Research (20% of time)Conduct foundation and government grant research, sharing prospective grants with the director of development and head of programs.Track leads information in Salesforce.Qualifications and Essential Qualities4 years of grant writing experience, with a proven track record of securing funds from foundations and major donors, ideally for organizations ranging from $2M to $5M in size.Demonstrated success in crafting successful private and public funding proposals for nonprofit organizations.Proficient in grant research, prospecting, and conversion strategies.Must have experience with securing federal grants and state grants from California.Familiarity with the philanthropic landscape in California and the San Francisco Bay Area is highly valued.Demonstrate initiative as a self-starter who takes full ownership of your work, embodying a proactive approach to tasks.Are highly organized with exceptional follow-throughHave a clear understanding of youth development, and the criminal justice system and trauma-informed practicesAbove all, you are passionate, creative, articulate, and believe in the power of storytelling. You possess excellent organizational skills, meticulous attention to detail, are an outstanding and enthusiastic relationship builder and thrive in a collaborative environmentCompensation:This is a contracted position with an hourly rate of $75 - $80.
