Working closely with the Senior Vice President of Communications & Marketing and Communications & Marketing directors, proactively identify, secure, review and evaluate media opportunities with regional, national, and trade outlets.Brainstorm ways to insert NeighborWorks America's voice into the daily news and an ever-changing news cycle, including pitching journalists, reporters, producers, and influencers on covering NeighborWorks America's subject matter experts, initiatives, programs, and events.Forge, strengthen and continually improve relationships with media, journalists, editors, producers, and influencers by understanding their needs and initiating background briefings with reporters and NeighborWorks subject matter experts.Generate short- and long-term ideas based on the media relations strategy and content calendar and develop content for op-eds, letters to the editor and other media opportunities.Respond to media inquiries and serve as an on-background spokesperson for NeighborWorks America.Manage media monitoring software to develop targeted media lists and produce reports on media coverage to share with Communications & Marketing staff, other divisions, and NeighborWorks America's leaders. Interpret findings and update plans based on information and data.Coordinate and support media opportunities for NeighborWorks America's leaders, subject matter experts, fellows and partners.Supervisor:

Position Requirements

Required Minimum Qualifications:

College level degree, certification(s) and/or equivalent relevant work experience.

Seven (7) At least seven years' professional experience in proactive media relations - developing, executing, and integrating communications strategy and developing media plans.Working proficiency in Spanish is desirable but not required.

Technology:

Media monitoring software (e.g., Meltwater or Cision), Microsoft Office suite, social media management tool, project management software/tool, website content management.

Communication & Marketing's Purpose

The Communications & Marketing Division manages NeighborWorks America's internal and external communications, including but not limited to digital and print content, email/newsletters, videos, corporate reports (such as the annual report) and social media. The division also provides brand and graphic design support to other business units as well as overall content management, brand management and enforcement and website development. This involves establishing, implementing, and coordinating corporate-wide policies, strategies and guidelines around the corporation's communications activities. Communications & Marketing staff also provide communications resources (speechwriting, talking points, media training, etc.) for NeighborWorks' officers and thought leaders. In addition, the division coordinates the delivery of branding and communications best practices to NeighborWorks network organizations.

Salary Range$90,000-$128,000: The salary offered for the role will be based on a variety of factors, including geographic location, internal equity, and the candidate's qualifications/professional experience.
