Job Summary

Indiana University Communications and Marketing seeks a dynamic and collaborative critical thinker and creator to join its Content Strategy team, which guides the creation, delivery, and governance of useful, usable content for the university and its many stakeholders and audiences. Reporting to IU's Executive Director of Content Strategy, the person in this role excels at devising purpose-driven content narratives and leveraging analytics and insights to maximize content's reach and influence.

Department-Specific ResponsibilitiesResponsible for the strategic planning and creation of compelling digital and print content that is consistent with IU's enterprise content strategy and overall branding guidelines.Creates and implements ideas for platform-specific content that aligns with key brand messages and inspires, educates, and engages audiences.Optimizes content through editing and repurposing existing materials.Maps editorial workflows and coordinates with CRM and creative teams to ensure the timely and efficient development and delivery of content.Manages content calendars and ensuring content remains consistent across all platforms, including web, email, paid media, and print media.Works with research and analytics teams to assess engagement trends, monitor content performance, and make data-driven decisions and adjustments.Works with marketing strategy team to define project goals.Conducts content audits to identify gaps in consistency and areas for improvement.Analyzes content of competitor institutions and partner and audience feedback to inform the development of new strategies.Ensures effective implementation of SEO best practices.Provides guidance and best practices to content producers across the university.Engages with UX and information architecture staff to improve audience experiences.Contributes to content governance and management processes.Stays ahead of content development and strategy trends.Writes and edits marketing copy and content.General Responsibilities

Independently develops and executes basic and complex strategic marketing plans for a department or functional area within a department to advance goals and objectives, including data collection and market research, target market definition, development of project timelines, sourcing of promotional materials, and marketing content creation.Responds to inquiries and requests from stakeholders and explains information regarding policies, procedures, and programs.Manages relationships with various internal and external stakeholders, including vendors, and acts as a collaborative resource in curating marketing plans to relevant initiatives, groups, events, and programs.Regularly researches relevant subject matter to increase knowledge in area(s) of specialty, including information on various marketing channels (print, online, electronic, email, social media, and direct mail).May participate in team-based marketing planning to align strategies and deadlines across various concurrent projects and initiatives.Collaborates with users of various software programs and creative platforms to create and deliver content and marketing materials in multiple formats to a variety of audiences.May provide guidance to lower-level Marketing Generalists; may make process and operational recommendations to manage.Qualifications

This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus.
