Hellmuth, Obata & Kassabaum, Inc. seeks Senior Design Professional in St. Louis, MO.Duties: Under the direction of a licensed Architect, assist in predesign/planning and all design phases of multistory mixed use, retail, entertainment, hospitality, healthcare and aviation, including new construction and renovation, tenant improvement, and parking garages. Produce site analysis studies with site photography, building code research, base drawings, and diagrams using Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign. Prepare and incorporate weather data analysis using Climate Consultant to identify passive design potential based on the local climate and building use to minimize building energy needs and maximize the energy savings. Develop design documents for all design phases, schematic design through construction documents including documenting architectural plans, elevations, section, and details in imperial or metric standards for jurisdictional agency corrections using 2D/3D modeling software, mainly Autodesk Revit and AutoCAD. Produce virtual design simulations to integrate collaborative workflow from project team and to identify design conflicts using the intelligence of the software and communicate solutions for design development using Lumion and Enscape. Conduct material and product research for building façade, exteriors and interiors, and landscape elements appropriate for project requirements and client satisfaction. Design exterior envelope as well as interior finishing requiring enlarged plans, elevations, sections, details, and axonometric drawings. Analyze sketches, photos, standards, cut sheets, and other input material to determine best approaches for completion of comprehensive details and sections to solve technical issues of design in relation to sites, buildings and client needs. Work in conjunction with sustainable design leadership in the continued improvement and development of high-performance design to maintain and improve the quality and consistency of design environment and deliverables. Incorporate LEED sustainable design principles and strategies into projects, and participate in LEED documentation and commissioning process. Coordinate conceptual design drawings with mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection (MEP/FP), civil, structural, lighting, A/V, telecom, graphics, interiors, and landscape consultants to incorporate building systems into architectural designs to produce construction documentation and secure client and regulatory approval. Participate in quality assurance/quality control review sessions at project milestones. Make corrections, as indicated by Project Architect and Design Director, to in-progress sets of design development and construction documents using BIM360/Revit, AutoCAD, and Bluebeam. Assist in managing project consultant agreements and project budgets. Apply architectural principles to review all related shop drawings, samples, mockups, and cut sheets on materials and equipment.Required SkillsMust have 3 years of experience in each of the following: Experience using SD/DD/CD phases of large scale projects, including multistory mixed use (SD), retail (SD), entertainment (SD to DD), hospitality (SD to CD), and healthcare (DD to CD), including new construction and renovation; Collaborating on concept alternative studies; Translating design intent into technical documents; Incorporating custom detailing, structural engineering principles, and building systems into architectural designs; Creating design presentations using SketchUp, Rhino, Grasshopper, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Lumion, and Enscape. Telecommuting (remote work) is permitted.
