Director, Global Marketing & Communications, Blue Man Group

Full-Time Position

Reporting to the VP, Marketing & Communications:

The Director, Global Marketing & Communications for Blue Man Group will provide direction for all Marketing, PR and Social Media activities taking place for all Blue Man Group resident shows (Las Vegas, New York, Chicago, Boston, Orlando, Berlin), World Tour, and all international resident and touring shows globally. They will oversee the development of brand-genuine marketing and communications strategies that include traditional and digital advertising, PR, events, activations, social media, content creation, creative, media planning/production, experiential marketing, promotions, CRM, website, and market research for Blue Man Group to maximize revenue and occupancy, while controlling costs. They will guide the implementation of marketing and PR strategies across all markets while maintaining a favorable public image, and maintaining and respecting Blue Man Group brand standards.

General:

• Provide both in-person and remote leadership to national Blue Man Group Marketing & Communications team.

• Lead the development and implementation of a comprehensive Marketing, PR, and Social Media plans across all productions.

• Develop, implement and maintain brand guidelines and standards across all markets and productions.

• Implement national promotional strategy for all resident shows.

• Consistently liaise with Marketing & Communications teams to propose integrated marketing, PR and social media campaign strategies and actions across markets.

• Oversee graphic standards for the brand.

• Monitor the effectiveness of all advertising and promotional efforts and make recommendations for adjustments as necessary to achieve greatest ROI.

• Oversee public relations and media relations strategy, planning and execution of activities nationally; working in collaboration with managers and agencies across markets on initiatives and pitches.

• Oversee and direct the pitching of promotions and public relations by PR firm to media outlets in all markets and national broadcast television. Set and ensure media value targets are achieved.

• Build and maintain strong relationships with Marketing & PR Agencies, 3rd party contractors, production partners and support teams across all markets to drive marketing, PR and Social initiatives; continually managing expectations of partners, senior management and internal departments through clear, concise communication.

• Implement partnerships with local and national brands that align with Blue Man Group to cross promote and expand the brand awareness to identified audiences.

• Attend regular partner strategy meetings in order to develop and assess new and ongoing strategies for advertising, media planning, production, market research, PR and promotions.

• Work with partners, agencies and vendors to manage the development of annual media budgets.

• Lead and collaborate closely with Social Media team to identify opportunities to grow Blue Man Group's social footprint, including partnerships, new project launches and large brand collaborations

• Create and implement processes for Social Media content development, creation and approvals.

• Collaborate closely with Sales and Revenue Management teams to analyze sales forwcasts and develop and implement ongoing strategies to address difficult sales periods.

• Implement, track and optimize in-market initiatives to drive day-of ticket sales.

• Seek out innovative ideas for new marketing activities and potential vendors or partners to assist with increasing the visibility of Blue Man Group shows and their respective sales objectives.

• Lead new show launches and implement the recommendations of senior management and assist in defining target markets and media strategies.

• Oversee ongoing evaluation of team resources and restructure, grow and/or build the team based on direction from leadership to ensure all cities receieve the marketing, PR, and Social support needed.

• Cultivate relationships with Agency Partners, BMG teams across all markets and CDS Divisions, and all external partners to ensure open communication, operational efficiencies and continued collaboration on all Marketing, PR, and Social Media initiatives for BMG Globally.

• Build relationships with, and provide Marketing, Communications, and Brand Guidance to, all partner promoters for BMG WT, BMG Berlin, BMG Shanghai, BMG Japan, and planning/promotional support for additional potential new international show launches.

• Accompany artists and staff to media and public relation events / coordination of media activities on and off site including special event performances as needed.

• Facilitate communication with show teams, performers and media as needed.

• Act as company spokesperson; represent Blue Man Group at public events and business gatherings.

• All other duties as assigned by the VP, Marketing & Communications & Blue Man Group Managing Director.

The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:

• Minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible Live entertainment marketing experience in a business environment

• Proven experience in marketing with high-profile brands in portfolio situations.

• Bachelor's degree in marketing, business administration or a related field

• Expert negotiator, partnership builder, marketing strategist with specialty in live entertainment

• Fluency in English;

• Advanced knowledge of all MS Office programs;

• Excellent team builder and leader, steady leadership amongst ever changing circumstances;

• Experience in driving ticket sales and revenue preferred;

• Experiential Marketing knowledge or experience

• Excellent written and oral communication skills;

• Analytical skills a must

• Must create and maintain solid business relationships both internally and externally and promote and encourage a positive and productive work environment;

• Great organizational skills and the ability to multi-task;

• Must also be able to handle ambiguity and work under pressure while maintaining a professional demeanor;

• Must be available to work nights and weekends and travel as required.
