Job Description:COMMUNICATION OFFICER 2:Under general supervision from the shift commander or other administrative superior, supervises and participates in radio communications operations for law enforcement, security, or transportation facilities.•Adheres to all OSHA and/or Ohio University required safety guidelines•Receives and transmits radio communications dispatching personnel; receives and transmits messages by radio, telephone, or teletype in reference to criminal record checks, officer requests, officer location or receives and transmits messages for the department during non-office hours to contact appropriate personnel as needed.•Provides information when requested and routes telephone calls; operates mass alert system, receives and routes internal and external communications and follows procedures to contact appropriate personnel and/or agencies; responds to requests for criminal records and checks and disseminates information to law enforcement agencies via radio, teletype and telephone.•Monitors, receives, interprets, and responds appropriately to multiple campus alarm systems. Activates campus outdoor emergency notification system. Maintains radio and activity logs, logs criminal records and/or officer requests; monitors all emergency alarms and security systems making immediate contact with the appropriate agency (e.g., police, ambulance, fire department, coroner); files correspondence and reports, teletypes and prepares and/or types reports and correspondence, enters and retrieves data from computer system.•Performs complex operations involving interaction with multiple data systems simultaneously, including transfer of data between systems.•Prioritizes appropriately and coordinates multiple tasks simultaneously, including tasks critical to life and safety.•Greets and assists visitor and provides liaison service to area communities and other public service agencies.•Performs other related duties as required.COMMUNICATION OFFICER 3:Under general supervision from the shift commander or other administrative superior, supervises and participates in radio communications operations for law enforcement, security, or transportation facilities. Mentors/trains lower-lever communication officers.•Adheres to all OSHA and/or Ohio University required safety guidelines.•Mentors/trains lower-level communication officers.•Receives and transmits radio communications dispatching personnel; receives and transmits messages by radio, telephone, or teletype in reference to criminal record checks, officer requests, officer location or receives and transmits messages for the department during non-office hours to contact appropriate personnel as needed.•Monitors, receives, interprets, and responds appropriately to multiple campus alarm systems.
