Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks is looking for a dynamic communication and outreach coordinator who can be an integral part of our Communication and Education staff as we look to inspire, inform and education Montanans about the incredible fish, wildlife and outdoor recreation resources in Montana. This job is located in Montana’s capital city of Helena, which is a great and vibrant community of professionals who are passionate about the outdoors. It is centrally located in Montana – only a few hours away from Glacier National Park, Yellowstone National Park and some of the best state parks in Montana. Additionally, hunters and anglers will find some of the best opportunities in the state within 90 minutes of town. Come be part of an enthusiastic team of educators and communicators who are leading the charge with telling the amazing story of the work done by the staff of Montana FWP. *Job Duties:* The individual is responsible for coordinating with division leadership and program managers on developing and tracking communication and outreach plans, including education and marketing efforts. This person will play an integral coordination role in ensuring communication and outreach plans, developed by the division and department staff, are executed in a timely and coordinated fashion. This person will have in-depth understanding of planning processes and have a high level of organizational skills. Additionally, this person will be skilled in public relations communication theories and implementation practices. They will work well as a member of a team and have excellent group and meeting facilitation skills. This person will coordinate that expertise within the division and agency to help the division administrator meet the objectives of communication and outreach plans. The individual will be a key contact for division staff when developing communication and outreach plans. The individual will be critical in ensuring that communication and outreach plans are developed consistently and executed timely and thoroughly, and that results are tracked and communicated internally. Some specific duties will include developing outreach plans, creating messaging around key topics, and developing reports for measurable outcomes of those plans for both internal and external audiences. *_Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: _* Thorough knowledge of: 1)Planning strategies, techniques and skills, particularly as it relates to communication planning; 2) public outreach tools and techniques, including traditional media and website operations, social media platforms, digital communications, advertising and marketing techniques, education and outreach efforts and plans; 3) agency organization, programs, policies and procedures; 4) regional, statewide and national natural resource issues and politics; 5) special interest groups; 6) recreational resources. Considerable knowledge of: 1) principles and practices of fish, wildlife and outdoor recreation management; 2) organization policies and operations of federal natural resource agencies and private groups with ties to or interests in hunting, fishing, recreation, conservation and land preservation; 3) principles of marketing *Skills.*Exceptional interpersonal skills. Operational skills in the use of computer hardware and software. Considerable skill in writing, speaking and editing of written materials. Skilled in the development of public outreach plan development and implementation. Skilled in time management. Skilled in managing several projects at once. Meeting and group facilitation skills are critical. *Abilities.*Must be: · Organized as this person will be monitoring several projects at once. · An effective communicator. This person will be working with groups of people with varying expertise and capacity. That means clear, efficient communication is critical. · Able to establish effective working relationships with employees, other agencies, the media and the public · Able to foster public understanding of department programs · Able to represent the department and act as a liaison to other agencies and the public · Able to analyzemajor problems that often need complex planning for interrelated activities · Able to exercise judgment, decisiveness and innovation in situations involving broader aspects of the organization. *Minimum Qualifications (Education and Experience):* Bachelor’s degree in communication, public relations, natural resources conservation or related field and three or more years of relevant experience in the field. Individuals with a background in natural resource management are preferred. Other combinations of education and experience which could provide such knowledge, skills and abilities will be evaluated on an individual basis.
