Successful candidates will help shape our new writing curriculum from its inception as they teach the first-year writing course sequence. These faculty members will be integral to our program's future growth, success, and sustainability.We seek applicants with experience working with diverse learners and who are committed to excellence in teaching. We create empowering, supportive, and inclusive learning environments, deliver engaging and student-centered instruction, and recognize and adapt to the unique needs of all students to support their success. Service to the university, department, discipline, and community is expected of all faculty at Clarke; this includes participation on committees and other activities. Successful applicants may also have the opportunity to teach in other areas, such as literature, communication, or media studies, depending on qualifications.Qualified candidates should possess the following:+ A Ph.D (preferred) or M.A in English, Rhetoric-Composition or a related field+ A record of effective teaching in higher education, with specific evidence of excellence in first-year writing or Writing Across the Curriculum programs+ Experience with Active Learning pedagogies+ An interest in working with a diverse body of students, which may include first-generation students and student-athletesOther qualifications that will be considered:+ Experience working in writing centers, facilitating faculty development, and learning outcomes+ Demonstrated research interest in Rhetoric-Composition pedagogy+ Credentials that would enable the instructor to teach in other, related curricular areas, such as media studies, literature, creative writing, or other disciplines.Clarke University is committed to fostering a welcoming campus community that celebrates the unique contributions of each person and promotes an inclusive learning environment.
