Minimum Qualifications:

High School Diploma or GED required to include three (3) years of Public Safety Emergency Dispatch experience to include one (1) year of lead experience; or two (2) years of experience working as a Communications Officer II and released from all radio disciplines (Fulton County Government Emergency Services current or former employees only) to include one (1) year of lead experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Must possess and maintain Georgia Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Certification (3). The following Certification

MUST

be attained within one year of employment and maintained during the employment. Georgia Crime Information Center (GCIC)/National Crime Information Center (NCIC) Certification (1), Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD) Certification (1), (3), National Incident Management System (NIMS) courses (1), Certification on all Dispatch Consoles and a Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certification (1). Employees of this classification must also complete the Association of Public Safety-Communications Officials (APCO) Communications Training Officer Certification course within six (6) months of promotion/employment.

Specific Knowledge, Skills, or Abilities : Must be able to demonstrate proficiency in the performance of the essential functions and learn, comprehend, and apply all County or departmental policies, practices, and procedures necessary to function effectively in the position.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:All applicants must agree to and successfully pass a background investigation, skills assessment, psychological evaluation, physical/drug screening, and polygraph to be considered for employment with the Fulton County Department of Emergency Services.

Must be at least eight-teen (18) years of age. Must conform to the following qualifications as required by the Georgia Peace Officer Standards and Training Act: Be a citizen of the United States; Have a high school diploma or its recognized equivalent (G.E.D.).

Ability to type at a speed of not less than 25 net words per minute.The incumbent works within a 24-hour, seven (7) days per a week operation and performs shift work as required, including working holidays and weekends.

Not have been convicted by any state or the federal government of any crime, the punishment for which could have been imprisonment in a federal or state prison or institution; nor have been convicted of sufficient misdemeanors to establish a pattern of disregard for the law, provided that, for the purposes of this paragraph, violations of traffic laws and other offenses involving the operation of a motor vehicle when the applicant has received a pardon shall not be considered.

RECRUITMENT INFORMATION;During the recruitment process, candidates will be scheduled by the Talent Acquisition Team to take the Select Advantage assessment. EXAMINATION:The examination will consist of an evaluation of education and experience, accomplished by analysis of the application. Application must document that the applicant possesses the minimum knowledge, skills, education and experience as listed to be rated as qualified. Purpose of Classification:

The purpose of this classification is to conduct classroom and on-the-job training of staff learning to receive, transmit, and complete emergency aid request calls in the Fulton County Department of Emergency Services. Responsibilities include assisting with class curriculum development and instructions and serving in a lead or supervisory capacity during specific shifts as required. This classification is distinguished from E911 Supervisor in that this class assists with training new employees in addition to supervising lower-level positions as required, whereas the latter directly supervises Communications Officers and schedules duty assignments.

Essential Functions:The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned.Serves as an on-the-job training specialist assisting in performance of E911 Communications Officer I job requirements: monitors calls for compliance with policies and procedures; assists with unusual/difficult situations; tracks progress of the trainee on a daily basis through an established evaluation process and writes reports regarding the trainee's progress.

Monitors, instructs and participates with trainees in answering 911 emergency and non-emergency calls from the public; determines nature of the call and correct signal and/or code; assigns priority to the call; simultaneously enters information into the Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) System; and provides lifesaving and pre-arrival instructions to callers in emergency medical situations.

Dispatches the appropriate agency (e.g., police, fire, marshal, emergency medical services) to the scene through the use of radio and Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) System and coordinates multi-unit and multi-jurisdictional response calls; maintains awareness of available response units: dispatches calls to available units; maintains contact with response units to provide information and instructions regarding emergencies; and assists in the coordination of correct response.

Utilizes computer to enter and retrieve data/information related to police, fire, and emergency medical service activity: retrieves and relays information from the Georgia Crime Information Center (GCIC) and National Crime Information Center (NCIC), such as driver's license, weapon registration, vehicle tag, article identification numbers, date of birth, etc. to law enforcement personnel.

Ensures trainee compliance with applicable rules and regulations of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), Georgia Crime Information Center (GCIC), and National Crime Information Center (NCIC).

Assisting the E911 Supervisor by monitoring the daily operations of the Emergency Communications Center.Reports equipment failures/issues, making proper notification to specific personnel, County Officials, and others required in unusual or major incidents.

Additional Functions:Functions as an Assistant Shift Supervisor as required. Performs other related duties as required.
