Morris Adjmi Architects (“MA”) is a multidisciplinary design practice dedicated to interpreting the historic forces that shape cities to create buildings that stand out by fitting in. MA is recognized for its creative use of new materials and technologies, sophisticated, sustainable designs, and thoughtful engagement with the arts. Each design decision is guided by a deep appreciation for and understanding of the integral architectural, cultural, civic, environmental, and economic forces that shape a project.

A Planner/Urban Designer at MA is fully competent in conventional aspects of urban design, site planning, and public realm design tasks. They provide technical assistance on zoning, environmental concerns, and other planning-related topics with confidence and independence. This role involves attending governmental or community design oversight meetings as needed.

The Planner/Urban Designer contributes to project creative-design efforts in the early stages of development, assisting the Director of Planning in preparing initial zoning, programming, and feasibility presentations and reports. Their responsibilities span various aspects of the planning process, ensuring well-rounded development of design and technical solutions.

Participate in compiling data and perform design computations for initial zoning/feasibility and planning studiesAssist in developing site analysis, conceptual designs, initial presentations, design guidelines, and master plansImplement design direction based on leadership feedbackAssist with generating planning and design ideas; conduct high-level research; identify and document precedents and relevant scale studies; envision and develop diagrams; render site plansDemonstrate an understanding of building typologies, critical dimensions, utility and infrastructure systems, land development imperatives and planning /zoning codes, phasing considerations, and implementation techniquesPrepare and participate in stakeholder and public meetings

Qualifications

Education:

Professional degree in Planning, Urban Design, Architecture, or related field

Actively pursuing architectural registration or AICP certification

Other accreditations encouraged (AIA, LEED, etc.)

Experience:

3+ years of experience

Skills:

Proficient in 3D modeling using software such as Revit, Rhino, AutoCAD, and SketchUp. Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign), MS Office, Bluebeam, ArcGIS
