The Senior Grant Writer will be responsible for researching, preparing, and submitting grant proposals to various funding sources, including foundations, corporations, and government agencies. This role requires excellent writing skills, strategic thinking, and the ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.
The ideal candidate will have a passion for the Y’s mission and be dedicated to helping expand our capacity to serve. This position will have a direct impact on the organization’s ability to raise and renew contributed revenue in support of the strategic plan.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Nonprofit Management, or related field. Master's degree preferred
Minimum of five years’ experience in non-profit sector
Proven track record of successful grant proposals and funding acquisitions
Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
Strong research skills and attention to detail.
Ability to understand and interpret financial information and budgets.
Excellent organizational and time management skills.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Essential Functions
Key Responsibilities
Grant Proposal Development:
Research potential grant opportunities and funding sources.
Write, edit, and submit compelling grant proposals and applications.
Develop and maintain a detailed calendar of grant deadlines and reporting requirements.
Collaboration and Coordination:
Work closely with program staff to understand project goals and funding needs
Reporting and Documentation:
Prepare and submit required reports to funders in a timely manner.
Maintain accurate records of past, current, and pending grants.
Relationship Management:
Build and maintain relationships with foundation officers and other key stakeholders.
