The Director of Marketing & Membership Communications is responsible for member recruitment, retention, and engagement. Provides overall strategic and operational leadership for marketing and communications targeted to various audiences including members, non-members, the public and key state agencies. Proactively develops and executes innovative communications strategies using both traditional and new marketing technologies. Implements marketing strategies and fundraising campaigns to build awareness and support for the political action committee, grants, and scholarships. This position requires a willingness to work collaboratively with all departments to ensure that association programs and volunteer opportunities are marketed to association members. This position requires close collaboration with committee members, the Board of Directors, staff, volunteers, and external vendors.Responsibilities and Duties:Create and implement member recruitment and retention campaigns.Develop and execute marketing strategies and fundraising campaigns throughout the year to build awareness of and support for the Political Action Committee.Create and manage consistent messaging across all association marketing platforms including but not limited to social media, direct mail, email, and digital marketing ads.Coordinates development of content and graphic design for newsletters.Manage creation of media content including but not limited to association member testimonials, recorded presentations, webinars, and other virtual meetings in conjunction with external consultants.Manage disbursement of Political Action Committee contributions, candidate questionnaires and candidate endorsement process.Develop marketing strategies to ensure current and prospective association members are familiar with association programs including but not limited to Legal Defense Fund, Political Action Committee, Member Benefits, Foundation, and other programs.Creates scripts, meeting talking points, and presentations for staff and volunteer members' use at external and internal meetings, and for media production.Works collaboratively with government affairs consultants to draft legislative updates and to execute Calls to Action.Maintains regular contact with membership committee chairs in local units to assist in activities that relate to membership development.Identify and cultivate relationships with new and prospective members, research and identify contacts to build targeted prospect lists.Fields questions from association members on legislative activities and other regulatory issues.Desired Skills and Experience:Candidate must be goal oriented, strategic, a strong and effective communicator, and willing to work collaboratively with all team members. Previous professional experience with not-for-profit associations, fundraising, membership-based organizations and understanding of legislative process is a plus.Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, media studies, or related field.5-7 years' experience with customer service, administrative support, marketing, membership recruitment, or fundraising.Strong verbal and written communication skills.Excellent customer service skills.Strong commitment to team goals and objectives.Willingness to work with a variety of individuals with diverse perspectives, the public, elected officials, and state governmental agencies.Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook),virtual meeting platforms (Zoom, Teams), social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn), and graphic design software (Adobe InDesign or equivalent) are required.
