DoD temporary appointments will be for a period NTE 1 year and may be extended in increments of up to 1 year for a total of 3 years. Agency has the option to extend the appointment. Responsibilities Provides design, installation, operation, and maintenance of audiovisual, video teleconferencing (VTC) systems, and supporting telecommunications network infrastructure. Ability to manage multiple technical projects and audiovisual and telecommunication engineering support: monitoring their effectiveness, economy, results, and regulatory compliance and technical quality controls. Responsible for the maintenance of systems and maintaining operation of the Secretary's office video teleconference environment. This includes all VTC telecommunications equipment, audio, video, and information technology. Manages, schedules and operates secure and non-secure video teleconference systems. Executive level support is provided to the organization. Capability to install new software releases, systems upgrades, evaluates, and installs patches and resolves software and hardware related issues Ability to plan, program, integrate, coordinate, and evaluates the VTC requirements to develop and maintain VTC architecture, to include the telecommunications portion relating to VTC. Provides design, engineering, installation, and testing for new conference room/multimedia centers. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Individual Occupational Requirement Undergraduate and Graduate Education: Major study -- electrical or electronic engineering, mathematics, physics, public utilities, statistics, computer science, telecommunications management, information systems management, business administration, industrial management, or other fields related to the position to be filled. Other Education: Communications/electronics or automatic data processing training in technical institutes or business schools above the high school level or in Armed Forces schools that included advanced instruction in addition to basic courses, may be substituted for general experience on a month-for-month basis. or Experience Specialized Experience: Experience in evaluating, analyzing, developing, managing, or improving communications systems, procedures, and requirements that demonstrated knowledge of current developments and trends in communications concepts and technology In order to qualify for this position, you must meet the requirements described below. Qualifying Experience: To qualify at the GS-13, your resume must describe at least one year of experience that demonstrates the competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Experience refers to any paid or unpaid experience, including volunteer work and Military service, that would be considered equivalent to work normally performed at the next lower grade level in the federal service. For this position, qualifying experience is defined as: Experience in managing the telecommunications and network infrastructure supporting the deployment of desktop video telecommunications equipment. Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Education Education is not substitutable for specialized experience for this grade level. Additional Information Telework availability will be based upon the mission requirements and supervisory determination.
