PURPOSE AND SCOPE:The Graphic Designer I utilizes professional level skills to accomplish assignments within an area of functional specialty. Working independently and with project teams, uses a variety of tools and mediums to achieve artistic or decorative effects. Plans, analyzes, and creates solutions for visual communications needs throughout Lone Star College.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:Participates in team and project meetings to assist with larger project needs analysis, planning, organization, and concept development. Engages in brainstorming, planning, and executing digital marketing campaigns, ensuring alignment with brand strategy and objectives.Uses a variety of tools and mediums to achieve artistic or decorative effects to create options for customer selection.Responsible for meeting deadlines and using independent judgment to prioritize assigned work.esponsible for meeting deadlines and using independent judgment to prioritize assigned work.Maintains communications with vendors, requesting bids, providing pre-press and press checks, and helping ensure print-production timelines are met.Graphic Designers in different departments may focus on one or more specific types of projects, including but not limited to catalogs and class schedule productions, web/multi-media design, various publications, posters/fliers/brochures, etc.').Assists with the creation of eye-catching visual content for our digital marketing campaigns, including websites, social media, and email marketing.Collaboratively conceptualizes, designs, and executes eye-catching visual content and creative assets for digital and print marketing campaigns. This includes websites, social media, email marketing, advertisements, digital signage, web content, and traditional print media.Responsible for other reasonable related duties as assigned.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:Knowledge of professional printing processes, pre-press production, printing techniques, paper selection, coating, etc.Knowledge of PC's (Microsoft Office) and MACs and related graphic design softwareKnowledge of a variety of design software and tools, such as Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Canva, Constant contact, etc...Flexibility with prioritizing deadlines and managing expectationsStrong attention to accuracy and detailKnowledge of general layout principles and basic aesthetic design conceptsAbility to adapt to changing technology and acquire new skillsAbility to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlinesExcellent customer service skillsPHYSICAL ABILITIES:The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items, such as papers, books, or small parts; or driving an automobile. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.WORK SCHEDULE AND CONDITIONS:Equipment used includes, PC/MAC workstations running on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows/Apple environment, calculator, phone, and other general office equipment as well as a variety of graphics-related software, equipment, and design tools (e.g., DSLR cameras, large scale printers, video equipment, scanners, etc...)Interface with internal and external contacts as needed to carry out the functions of the positionWork is performed in a climate-controlled office with minimal exposure to safety hazardsREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:* Bachelor's degree and at least 3 years of related work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experiencePREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:Bachelor's degree in Visual CommunicationsExperience with design software

Salary

Hiring salary range is $51,761 - $59,525Lone Star College provides a hiring salary range for all posted full-time non-faculty positions. Where your salary offer would fall in that range is determined by your related experience and education.
