In 2023, Hogan Lovells received the top ranking among 100 firms ranked in Law360's Pulse Leaderboard based on a combination of factors, including legal work, reputation within the legal sphere, and dedication towards ethical and socially responsible practices while in 2022, the firm was recognized by Acritas in the Global Eliate Law Firm Brand Index as one of the Top 10 strongest legal brands in the United States.Our dynamic Marketing and Business Development (M&BD) team is looking for an enthusiastic and capable candidate to join us as a M&BD Specialist in our Washington, D.C. office - a broad remit across some fast-paced, interesting and high-profile areas of law.This position will support, plan, and execute the high-profile, business-critical marketing and business development activities for the designated practice group by working directly with key internal stakeholders and business development colleagues across the globe, including: pitching and credentials; client targeting and cross-selling; client/sector and competitor analysis; profile raising and marketing campaigns, including communications such as directory submissions; online content (intranet, etc.); and BD evaluation and reporting, as well as some administrative tasks to support the team.JOB DESCRIPTIONM&BD Specialist responsibilities fall into four core areas of focus: pitches and credentials; knowledge management and research; profile raising and marketing campaigns; internal marketing and infrastructure maintenance.Pitches and credentialsAssist with the coordination (to include development and editing) of responses to Requests for Proposals (RFPs), pitch responses, credentials statements, lawyer biographies, and other marketing collateral, ensuring best practice methodology is applied. Familiarity with MS Word and PowerPoint is essential, with experience in Adobe InDesign highly desirable.Prepare input to firmwide pitches and assist colleagues in other U.S. based area officesAssist in providing and producing background research, strategy, client briefings, and competitor analysis documents in preparation for pitches and other client meetings.Issue Pitch Alerts and provide input to the firm-wide pitch management system.Knowledge management and researchAssist in the creation and regular maintenance of key M&BD resources, including on the global intranet, external website (), master practice credentials documents, brochures, practice group descriptions, and practice and industry specific lawyer biographies.Update and maintain the internal deals database.Produce internal communications including electronic newsletters.Encourage full and effective use of the firm's CRM database (InterAction)Researching and drafting business summaries and client dossiers on specific client targets using 10-ks and the firm's research tools, including MonitorSuite and DB Hoovers, to aid in the development of marketing programs and pitch strategy.Reading industry, legal, and business publications to remain aware of trends that may impact the practice and to identify promotional opportunities.Profile raising and marketing campaignsCoordinate and support on client events, seminars, programs, and sponsorships, including preparing targeted mailing lists; creating and distributing invitations; overseeing internal / external advertising; developing PowerPoint presentations, seminar materials, and handouts; liaising with other internal stakeholders including the events, IT, AV, and other various internal teams for planning purposes; working at, or attending, the event (whether live or virtual); measuring return on investment; and ensuring participant follow-up.Contribute to the drafting, review, collation, and updating of practice area entries in legal directories (e.g.

The Legal 500 US ), award submissions and league tables.Liaise with the firm's design agency using their online portal to create various internal and external facing marketing materials and collateral.Prepare the production and uploading of client alerts and thought leadership on our HL Engage platform, liaising with the authors, the Engage team, and other internal stakeholders.Assist the M&BD team and central PR team on effective profile-raising plans and campaigns for the practice, working collaboratively with the firm's industry sector groups.Assist the M&BD team in the creation and distribution of thought leadership campaigns (such as client alerts, industry outlooks or practice guides), through careful project management, content production, and promotion via mass mailings, digital media posting, and internal newsletters and alerts.Support on other strategic business development and promotional initiatives and monitoring return on investment as needed.Internal marketing and infrastructure maintenanceSupport the Leadership team and M&BD team with meeting planning and logistics support, including preparation of internal reports.Contribute to building quality data resources that enable more efficient marketing by regularly inputting relevant data (matters, pitches, contact lists) to firm systems.Participating in our Global Community Investment program, which covers all volunteering undertaken by our people focusing on non-legal skills and can be undertaken by anyone in our offices. We work closely with local community organizations, charities and schools to develop projects that tackle social issues faced by people in the areas in which our offices are located. Many of our projects also offer our people the opportunity to develop their own skills alongside giving back to our communities.Any other tasks that may reasonably be required.Specific duties or responsibilities may be reviewed from time to time to reflect changes in personnel and management structure, staff location and services.QUALIFICATIONSFive (5)+ years marketing experience in a professional service, corporate or agency environment preferred.BS or BA degree in business, marketing, communications or related field is preferred.Strong organizational and project management skills, including the ability to plan ahead and prioritize conflicting demands to meet deadlines for the team.Good written and verbal communication skills with an excellent eye for detail and the ability to write compelling propositions.Ability to create a positive impact with colleagues, peers, partners and clients and to demonstrate diplomacy, listening and influencing skills.Experience working independently, as well as within cross-functional teams, in a collaborative, professional environment.Enthusiasm and dedication to the development of a professional services marketing career.Demonstrates consistent excellent service delivery to internal clients.Strong proficiency in MS Word and PPT is essential. Experience with InDesign is highly desirable.HOURSCore hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., with flexibility to work overtime as needed.The annualized salary range for this position is $73,000 to $106,000 depending on the candidate's overall experience and other job-related factors permitted by law. Full time employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus. In addition, full time employees as well as some part time employees, will be eligible for the firm's fringe benefits as they currently exist.
