Job Summary

As a HYBRID (NOT REMOTE) - UX Designer at Online Metals, you will play a pivotal role in crafting exceptional user experiences for our online retail platform. Collaborating closely with cross-functional teams, you will utilize your expertise in user-centered design principles to enhance usability, accessibility, and overall customer experience. From wireframing to prototyping, your creativity and analytical skills will drive the optimization of our ecommerce website, ensuring seamless navigation and conversion pathways for our users. UX Designers are also responsible for conducting research to uncover insights that drive improvements while leveraging a variety of qualitative and quantitative research methods, you will delve into the needs, behaviors, and preferences of our customers to inform strategic decision-making and optimize the end-to-end shopping journey.

Job Description

Key Accountabilities

1. Collaborate with product managers, developers, and other stakeholders to understand business objectives and user needs.

2. Translate business requirements and user needs into intuitive and engaging user interfaces for the ecommerce website.

3. Create wireframes, prototypes, and mockups to visualize and communicate design concepts effectively.

4. Conduct user research, usability testing, and analysis to gather insights and validate design decisions.

5. Iterate designs based on feedback, data-driven insights, and emerging trends in ecommerce UX/UI design.

6. Ensure consistency in design elements, interactions, and user flows across different pages and devices.

7. Advocate for user-centric design principles and best practices within the organization.

8. Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and competitor experiences to identify opportunities for innovation and improvement.

9. Collaborate with developers to ensure the feasibility and implementation of design solutions within technical constraints.

10. Participate in design reviews, brainstorming sessions, and cross-functional workshops to foster collaboration and ideation.

11. Design and execute qualitative and quantitative research studies to understand customer needs, behaviors, and pain points throughout the ecommerce shopping journey.

12. Conduct usability tests, interviews, surveys, and heuristic evaluations to gather actionable insights and feedback from our customer base.

13. Analyze research findings and data to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement in the ecommerce user experience.

14. Utilize tools and methodologies such as journey mapping, personas, and empathy mapping to deepen understanding of the customer experience.

15. Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) related to customer satisfaction, conversion rates, and engagement metrics to track the impact of UX improvements.

Qualifications

Minimum RequirementsBachelor's degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or related field.Proven experience (5+ years) as a UX/UI designer with a focus on ecommerce websites or digital products.Proficiency in design tools such as Sketch, Adobe XD, Figma, or similar software.Strong understanding of user-centered design principles, information architecture, and interaction design.Experience conducting user research, usability testing, and applying insights to inform design decisions.Solid portfolio showcasing examples of ecommerce website designs, wireframes, prototypes, and user flows.Excellent communication skills with the ability to articulate design concepts and rationale to stakeholders.Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.Familiarity with frontend development technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) is a plus.Knowledge of accessibility standards and best practices in ecommerce design is preferred.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Experience with design software (e.g. Figma, Sketch, Marvel, InVision) and graphics editing tools (e.g. Affinity Photo and Affinity Designer, Photoshop, Illustrator)Proven work experience as a Front-end developerFamiliarity with design techniques (e.g. prototyping), markup languages, browser testing and debuggingUnderstanding of visual foundations (Shape, Colors, Type, grid and layout)Understanding of layout aestheticsTeamwork skillsA keen eye for detailTime management and multitasking abilities.Creativity skills and problem-solving aptitudeExperience with at least HTML, CSS. Job Compensation

$60,000 - $85,000
