Job Description Summary

Suite Living Hospice Care is looking for a talented Music Therapist to serve our communities with compassion & care through various music therapies under the direction of the Clinical Supervisor. The ideal candidate will be board-certified and have experience working with the elderly in a healthcare setting.

Essential Job Functions/ResponsibilitiesThe Music Therapist plans, organizes, and leads small groups and one-on-one therapies that are uniquely designed according to each residents' plan of care. Under the direction of the Clinical Supervisor, the Music Therapist will use various musical techniques as a means to achieve therapeutic goals & objectives to restore, maintain, and improve overall mental & physical health.Work with the Clinical Supervisor to assess residents for appropriate medical indications to determine effectiveness of therapyDirect and assist residents through music therapy interventions to assist with alleviating symptoms of anxiety, depression, isolation, agitation, restlessness, sleeplessness, pain, tension, and discomfortProvide ongoing education to the Clinical Team of appropriateness and/or suitability of treatmentMaintain necessary records; clinical notes, charting, coordination notes, clinical records, and modify as neededPosition Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Music Therapy from a school approved by the American Music Therapy Association (AMTA)Must be Board-CertifiedMust have at least 1 year previous experience in a Recreation/Music Therapy role in a healthcare settingMust have strong interest in working with the Elderly and able to communicate effectively through verbal, non-verbal, and written communicationMust be able to direct and instruct residents and staff using music therapy techniques and adaptation techniques in programs
