This role involves creating captivating videos, crafting engaging social media content, assisting with press events, and utilizing skills in photojournalism to capture City events and community stories. If you're passionate about storytelling and visual creativity, this opportunity is perfect for you to make a meaningful community impact and connect with diverse audiences.DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS: This is an essential, entry-level position in the Bureau of Communications responsible for supporting teammates in the procurement and production of photography, and time based media content. The employee is responsible for technical setups for media and related events. The employee works under the general supervision of the Digital Media Manager and project supervision is provided by other team members. Supervision of others is not a responsibility of employees in this class. Does related work as required.This is a Competitive Class position. The individual selected to fill this vacancy will be given a provisional appointment and will be required to participate in the next Civil Service Examination for this title.A qualified applicant may be provisionally appointed and serve in the position until a Civil Service Examination is administered and an appropriate eligible list can be established to make a permanent appointment in accordance with the Civil Service Rule of Three. (See " ityofrochester.gov/article.aspx?id=8589935786 " Provisional Appointment - FAQ's) If you are already a City employee and have permanent, competitive status in your current position and appointment to this title would result in a provisional appointment in another department, you will lose your previous permanent competitive rights.CITY RESIDENCY WILL BE REQUIRED WITHIN ONE YEAR OF HIRE.Typical Work Activities+ Helps produce and disseminate content across multiple communications channels;+ Provides audio video support of public information activities including but not limited to press conferences and special events;+ Assists with multimedia communication projects and programs for various City departments and bureaus;+ Works within the team to brainstorm marketing concepts and tactics;+ Produces graphic design and animated assets for use in video and social media projects;+ Contributes copy for advertising and social media;+ Maintains and organizes a library of multimedia assets.Minimum QualificationsA) Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Photography, Imaging Arts, Film and Animation, New Media Design, Communications, Visual journalism, or closely related major;ORB) Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university AND one (1) year full-time experience or its part-time equivalent of professional experience in visual communications, television journalism, social media content development or other related field.;ORC) Associate's degree from an accredited college or university AND two (2) years of experience as described in B) above;ORD) High school diploma or G.E.D.
