Summary About the Position: Serves as a Telecommunications Specialist in the G/J6, Operations Division of the Joint Task Force-National Capital Region (JTF­NCR)/United States Army Military District of Washington (USAMDW). Responsible as the technical expert for the continuity of operations and maintenance of the United States Northern Command (USNORTHCOM) Deployable Communications Capabilities System (DCCS) Communications interoperability between military and civil response forces. Responsibilities Provide coordination, implementation, integration, and support affecting technical aspects of computer systems administration, network and information management within the USNORTHCOM Deployable Communications Capabilities System (DCCS). Enforce Information Assurance policies and procedures and determines system vulnerabilities and resolves security issues. Provide network management, systems administration, and technical services for operational accounts within the parts of the Deployable Communications Capabilities System DCCS Support Satellite services for access to the Deployable Communications Capabilities System (DCCS) associated Information Technology (IT) to include Network and Satellite services. Manage, order, install, and connect communications modems and other equipment throughout the headquarters, ensuring that all installations comply with appropriate Department of Defense (DoD), Department of Army (DA), and commercial standards. Utilize automated network management tools to monitor a multimillion-dollar communications network. Utilizes special diagnostic tools to troubleshoot and restore local area networks communications. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience in the Federal service which includes work that involves assisting in directing and coordinating audio and communication requirements for events and providing technical guidance. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Telecommunications Project/Program Management Telecommunications System Testing and Evaluation Telecommunications Systems Operations Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11). Applicants must meet all eligibility requirements and minimum qualification requirements prescribed by OPM within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement. Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Additional Information Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. One year trial/probationary period may be required. Direct deposit of pay is required.
