Director of Strategic Communications

Responsible for the leadership, planning, management and oversight of external communications for all 13 varsity sport programs and department initiatives. Manages media initiatives, video and streaming production. Develops marketing and promotion strategies to enhance department visibility. Serves as department liaison to the Friends of Athletics national committee. Promotes and is responsible for Blue Nation Giving Day. Contributes to the Department as a member of the Senior Staff leadership team.

Communications and Development

Manages media relations, including establishing contacts and providing materials to promote the athletics program and events within the department.Promotes inclusion of Athletics as a member of campus communications committee.Manages all aspects of WellesleyBlue.com and assists with updating and maintenance of the department website/s.Oversees the design, edit, production and distribution of Department publications and promotional materials. Knowledge of producing and editing vector graphics using Adobe Illustrator, desktop publishing (Adobe InDesign or similar) and web graphics (Adobe Photoshop).Prepares remarks and presentations for the Director as needed.Creates cyclical department communications outreach and strategy with an eye on fundraising.Responsible for Blue Nation Giving Day.Manages the Friends of Athletics national committee coordinating annual schedules, meeting agendas, and fundraising strategies.Coordinates team fundraising efforts.Administration & Events

Leads implementation of year-end student-athlete celebration and awards event(s).Leads Hall of Fame Committee. Participates in nomination, selection and induction activities. Provides research for all nominations; manages photography & video; creates and distributes publicity for induction and other administrative duties as assigned.Serves as event manager for select contests.Intercollegiate Athletics Sports Information

Plans, directs and leads sports information department including staffing, training, website updates, statistics, photography, social media, video, media relations and archives to support varsity athletics and to assist the department as needed. Along with the Assistant Director of PERA/Sports Information, will:Maintain rosters, results, statistics and records for 13 intercollegiate varsity sports.Be responsible for all weekly and postseason reporting to NCAA, ECAC, NEWMAC, and the Liberty League.Be responsible for the development and execution of all athletics recaps, summaries, reports, award nominations and annual college reports.Manage competition day live stats.Assign, supervise and evaluate all student workers to assist with statistics, scoring, announcing, technology support (e.g., video, website, social media) and other areas to ensure a well executed and promoted athletics event.

Prepares and manages area budget, as well as projections regarding future equipment and technology needs.Marketing and Branding

Serves as brand manager for athletics logo use for the College, ensuring a consistent image in institutional publications, trademark usage and marketing materials.Manages strategy and data regarding social media for all athletics and PERA activities.Develops and implements marketing strategies to promote department achievements and initiatives.Develops and implements high-level video and media strategies to promote the department and engage multiple constituencies.Manages streaming video including management of equipment and hiring/training of student workers.Performance Profile:

Bachelor's degree required; Masters Degree is preferred.Experience Required:

2-3 years experience in sports information/communications/media relations and /or promotions experience required.

3-5 years at college or university level is preferred.Skills and Abilities Required:

Excellent administrative, organizational skills required.Excellent written and oral communication skills required.Working knowledge of statistical programs, current design and desktop publishing software and web site maintenance are essential.Excellent computer skills and knowledge, proficiency with various technology and social media, video platforms required.Other:

Knowledgeable of and abide by all College, Department, NCAA and other governing sports association policies & procedures.Serves on department, college committees and seeks leadership opportunities.Engages professionally in conference, regional and national associations.
