Promotions Writer Producer

WLKY, the CBS affiliate in Louisville, Kentucky, is looking for a dynamic Promotions Writer Producer to join our seasoned creative team. You'll be involved in high-profile projects such as March Madness, the Kentucky Derby, daily breaking news, severe weather coverage, and key community initiatives. As a Promotions Writer Producer, you'll be responsible for crafting engaging daily news promos for our top-rated 11 p.m. newscast during the nightside shift (1:30 p.m. – 10:30 p.m.). You'll also work on various projects that enhance the station's brand and feature news, weather, sports, and public service announcements. Additional responsibilities may be assigned. Under the Creative Services Director, you'll create standout marketing messages and develop your skills with cutting-edge production technology. Responsibilities:

  • Produce, write, shoot, and edit on-air promos and campaigns that boost viewer interest, brand awareness, and ratings across broadcast and digital platforms.
  • Manage projects from concept to delivery, utilizing production cameras, lighting, Adobe suite for editing and post-production, and directing talent.
  • Communicate daily with creative, news managers, producers, and reporters.
  • Write and produce under tight deadlines.
  • Engage in community projects, event promotion, and production planning.
  • Support off-hour events and remote productions, with occasional weekend work.
  • In-person attendance is required.

Requirements:

  • Experience in writing and production.
  • Proficiency with Adobe After Effects, Premiere Pro, and Photoshop.
  • Strong writing skills; able to craft compelling, accurate, and conversational copy.
  • Skilled in videography and lighting.
  • Ability to write promotional content effectively.
  • Capable of working under tight deadlines.
  • Must be collaborative and inventive.
  • Related military experience is considered.
