About the RoleThe Company is seeking a Dean for its University Library, a pivotal role that demands a forward-thinking and student-focused leader. The successful candidate will be responsible for the strategic vision of the library, leading a diverse team, and managing all resources to ensure the library's continued success as an essential component of the academic mission. This includes fostering a culture of inclusivity, social justice, and anti-racism, and promoting the development of information-literate, lifelong learners. The Dean will also be tasked with engaging the university and local community, particularly in the context of a new capital campaign, and will be expected to have a strong commitment to diversity and inclusive excellence.
Applicants for the Dean position at the University Library must possess an ALA-accredited master's degree or its equivalent, along with a minimum of 5 years of progressive administrative experience in university libraries. The role requires demonstrated leadership in a complex academic or research library environment, a strong record of educational and scholarly achievement, and a commitment to the values of the institution. The Dean will be a change champion, adept at strategic planning, and have a proven track record of managing a diverse workforce. Experience in a collective bargaining environment and a background in public higher education are preferred qualifications.
