Packaging Design Specialist

SUMMARY

Tandy Is seeking a creative and detail-oriented Packaging Design Specialist to join our dynamic Kit team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing graphics, writing clear and concise instructions and understand the printing process to create visually appealing and functional packaging solutions for our Kit category. This role requires a blend of artistic talent, technical knowledge, and an understanding of consumer behavior.

As the Packaging Design Specialist, you will serve as a packaging expert. You will play a key role in developing and managing our instructional content for each SKU, including Kits, Paper Patterns, Templates, Box Sets, and all future line expansions. This role will exemplify high standards and a passion to deliver excellent customer experience. This will be a leading position to drive quality content by never skipping over the details and will approve all pre-production assets. This position will also assist with other pre-production-related items, such as cost evaluation, quality control/ inspection, and other necessary responsibilities.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIESDesign & Graphics

Create innovative and eye-catching packaging designs that align with the brand standards and identity.Develop and produce packaging artwork and instructional layout, including dielines, mockups, and production files.Collaborate with marketing and product development teams to ensure design consistency across all packaging materials.

Content Creation

Write clear, concise, and user-friendly instructions and other content for packaging.Ensure all written content is grammatically correct and effectively communicates how each kit should be assembled.Develop concepts to enhance customer experienceCollaborate cross functionally to create instructional photography.

Technical Knowledge

Understand the printing process, including color management, print finishes, and material specifications.Work closely with printers and suppliers to ensure the final product meets quality standards and specifications.Troubleshoot any design issues that may arise during the production process.

Project Management

Manage multiple products simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery of all packaging materials.Maintain organized files and documentation, such as translations, for all projects.Ability to drive aggressive timelines and decipher between priorities.Stay updated with industry trends and advancements in packaging design and materials.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Industrial Design or related work experience.3-5 years’ experience as a Packaging Designer or related roleProficient in Adobe Creative SuiteMicrosoft Word, Excel, and PowerpointProficient on Mac PlatformStrong understanding of typography, color theory, and layout designExcellent written and verbal communication skillsKnowledge of printing process and experience working with various print materials.Ability to think creatively and strategically, with strong problem-solving skills.Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills.Acute attention to detailMust be highly collaborativeAbility to multitask, manage deadlines and changing prioritiesApproachable, positive, “can-do” attitudeFlexibility in a fast-paced environmentMust be a team player with strong initiativePortfolio showcasing relevant design workPREFERRED SKILLS & COMPETENCIES

Experience and knowledge of leather-related industries is highly desired, but not required for the right candidate.Knowledge of sustainable packaging practices and materials.Experience with 3D modeling software
