Job purpose

The CAD Engineer will be creating 3D models for GIS using Trimble Business Center and AutoCAD Civil 3D for civil construction projects such as roadways, site development, parking lots, bridges, and highways. Candidates will also work with field surveyors processing topo information to calculate volumes for grading projects and roadway tie ins and work with our estimating department to do takeoffs for future projects.

The candidate we are looking for needs to have experience drafting with AutoCAD Civil 3D and Civil Construction projects such as roadway, site, bridges. Experience with Trimble GPS and other software is preferred but not required. Need to have the ability to work on a multiple of different projects daily. Candidates would also be required to think outside the box and solve all types if difficult problems and issues withing the construction.•This is an office-based role

Duties and responsibilities•Experience drafting with AutoCAD Civil 3D is preferred•High AutoCAD proficiency•Drafting experience for Civil Construction projects such as roadway, site, bridges•Field Survey experience is preferred but not required•Trimble Business Center experience is preferred but not required•Agtek experience is preferred but not required•MicroStation experience is preferred but not required•Coordinates with all Disciplines involved.•Calculates quantities, areas, etc. commensurate with civil engineering as well as prepare data required for roadway, utility, paving and structural.•Plot and prepare plan sets as required.•Performs such other duties as the supervisor may from time to time deem necessary

Qualifications•Associates Degree in Architecture/Engineering or•3+ years of experience of CAD experience , heavy civil construction preferably

o Position equivalent with Certified Survey Technician, Level II•Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D Required•Experience with GPS Systems•Ability to deal effectively and perceptively with a wide variety of individuals in person, via telephone and in writing. As well as having excellent customer relations skills.•Ability to work independently and resolve everyday problems, keeping all appropriate parties aware of issues and/or risks.•Have a strong work ethic.•Excellent verbal and written communication skills.•Proficient computer skills including the use of the Microsoft Office•Ability to read plans thorough knowledge of MoDOT, Municipal, County specifications.•Ability to understand elevations and offset info. Civil 3d (preferred)•Experience with Trimble GPS a plus•Experience with Agtek a plus•Experience with MicroStation and Geopak a plus•Experience with Trimble Business Center a plus

Other Functions•Safety support and planning work with Health and Safety Personnel.•Must have and maintain a valid driver's license.•Perform other duties as assigned

Working conditions

Outside environment, exposure to all weather conditions and temperatures. Site specific exposure to hazardous materials requiring proper use of Personal Protective Equipment. Noise levels are site specific and may be subject to PPE.
