Responsibilities

What you'll be challenged to do :The Communication Manager plays a vital role in managing public involvement and stakeholder engagement and developing and executing communication strategies to engage stakeholders and the public in various projects and initiatives. This position oversees all aspects of communication-related to these efforts, including community outreach, public meetings, and stakeholder communication. The Communications Manager collaborates closely with project teams, government agencies, community organizations, and the public to ensure transparency, build trust, and facilitate meaningful dialogue throughout the project lifecycle.

Primary Responsibilities (others may be included):

Develops and implements comprehensive communication strategies and plans to support transportation projects and initiatives.Provides strategic guidance and support to project teams on matters of communication and public involvement.Manages communication resources and budgets effectively to ensure efficient use of resources.Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of communication and public involvement activities and makes recommendations for improvement.Oversees media relations activities, including drafting press releases, responding to media inquiries, and cultivating relationships with journalists.Leads community outreach efforts to engage stakeholders and the public, including organizing public meetings, workshops, and events.Develops and maintains strong relationships and networks with clients, government agencies, community organizations, and other stakeholders to facilitate collaboration and cooperation.Stays informed about emerging trends, best practices, and regulations related to communication and public involvement in the transportation industry.Serves as a spokesperson for the organization, representing it in public forums, meetings, and events as needed.Supervises and mentors communication staff, providing guidance and support to foster professional growth and development.Supports the continuous evaluation and refinement of internal communications processes to identify better ways of working.Responds to crises or challenging situations quickly and professionally.Attends networking events and speaking engagements and assists with hosting special events.Ensures all company and project materials have consistent and positive messaging and branding.Conducts quality control on all communications.Qualifications

What you bring to our firm:

Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.Minimum of 5 years of experience in communication, public relations, or stakeholder engagement, preferably in the infrastructure or transportation sector.Strong understanding of communication principles, strategies, and techniques, with demonstrated experience in developing and implementing communication plans.Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and effectively to diverse audiences.Experience in public/media relations, including drafting press releases, coordinating interviews, and managing media inquiries.Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to lead and motivate a team to achieve goals and objectives.Knowledge of AEC industry trends, issues, and regulations is desirable.Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.Experience in community outreach and stakeholder engagement, with the ability to build relationships and foster collaboration with various stakeholders.Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Creative Suite and communication software/tools.Actively engages multiple perspectives when solving problems, seeks to learn from peers, and encourages reciprocal learning among team members.Actively advocates for full inclusion in the workplace, fostering an environment that welcomes diversity and values equity for all employees, partners, clients, and the communities that TranSystems serves.Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.What we'd prefer for you to bring to our firm:
