Systems Designer (Senior)

Obsidian Entertainment is looking for a talented, self-motivated Senior Systems Designer to collaborate with a growing team of developers.

This role works closely with artists, animators, audio, and gameplay programmers to develop the main features and systems of the game. The ideal candidates are people who can collaboratively plan and create fun, engaging, and deep systems and features.Responsibilities

Collaborate with other designers to improve existing game systems as well as define new systems and featuresTake ownership of the design of a feature or system and collaborate with other departments in implementing themDocument and refine game system and feature designsActively participate in creative and technical problem-solving discussionsPlay the game regularly to iterate on feel, balance, and progressionUtilize team, player, and focus feedback to continually improve the game features and systemsCreate content that adheres to tight schedules and assist others in meeting deadlinesRequirements6+ years' experience in the game industry as a system designer with at least one shipped titleRelevant experience in working directly within a game engine to implement, test, and iterateProficient in balancing game systems for difficultly, progression, and funAbility to communicate a vision, present ideas, listen to the ideas of others, and accept critical feedback objectivelyPlusesExperience with Unreal Engine 5Experience and proficiency with ExcelProgramming or scripting experienceExperience working on games with role-playing elementsHighly analytical with exceptional attention to detailLove of computer and console role-playing and action gamesObsidian Entertainment is proud to be an equal opportunity employer and we are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees.

The estimated base pay range for this role is:

$130,330 - $155,490 per year
