We work in a Hybrid work environment, where are teams are in the office Monday- Wednesdays and working remotely Thursday and Fridays. Our office is located in the Flatiron District NYC.

The Associate Designer for Cut and Sew Knits will contribute on executing product from concept through development for women's apparel brands sold exclusively at a major retailer with a huge reach. This individual must have passion about product, a strong eye for trend and color, great style, strong communication and organization skills. This position will report to the Cut and Sew Knits Senior Designer.

Responsibilities:

Must excel in illustrating sketches/ stitches/ patternsSketch flat and details construction by using illustrator for tech pack.Ensure that swatch library is maintained by tracking, collecting, and organizing all information.Research seasonal, market and customer trends to identify new fabrics, opportunities, and techniques.Assist in the development of the complete concept for the season and adapt it appropriately to the individual merchandise areas assigned to.Assist the team in partnering with production, fabric development, and sourcing to design merchandise.Build collaborative relationships with vendors and internal client.Present to Buyers merchandise product accordingly.Source trims and fabrics locally as needed.Assist in launching mockup requests to factories.Help create designs and incorporate feedback for finalization.Assist in reviewing the line plan with team/brand and agree on overall direction and content of the line for a season.Assist with organizing and building concept design boards and presentations materials.Keep design boards neat and up to date.Work with Designer in creating tech packs from initial concept through development.Prep samples and proto for review.Ensure company objectives are met by helping create product that can drive sales and profitability in the organization.Support/collaborate with Designer with daily tasks and seasonal projects.Execute specific design development projects as assigned by Design Management.Assist with the direction for color and graphic development.Take notes on updates to design/sketch during fittings.Qualifications and Requirements:

Bachelor's Degree in Design, Fashion or related field.2+ years of experiencePortfolio showcasing design work.Strong color and creative sense as well as trend/fashion awareness.Knowledge of silhouettes, fabrication, construction techniques, and trim.Technical knowledge of cut and sew and other knit apparel construction.Knowledge of fabric treatments as well as wash and dye techniquesExpertise with Adobe Suite - Illustrator and Photoshop. Proficient with Microsoft Office SuiteExcellent verbal and written communication.Exceptional organization skills as well as the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.Ability to take direction, handle and prioritize multiple projects.Team-player.
