The Graphic Communication Technician is responsible for assisting with in-house printing and digital reproduction, including prioritizing print orders, assisting in project design and layout, and delivering high-quality finished products.

What a day of a Graphic Communication Technician looks like :Utilizes graphic art tools and professional-grade printing machines, including printing machines, cutters, folders, and punchers, to produce printed materials used in marketing, recruiting, fund-raising, and community relations.

Organizes work orders and workflows to ensure that all print jobs are completed on a timely basis. Prioritizes last-minute or emergency requests and verifies completion.

Communicates with clients on the capabilities of the print shop and other department services available.

Ensures materials provided to the print shop are print-ready. This includes coordinating with requesters, designers, and outside vendors to ensure the graphics, copy, and layout are correct.

Provides proof prints for approval before a final print run.

Completes administrative tasks including entering purchase orders into systems and processing chargebacks to departments.

Oversees the layout and production of business cards, letterheads, and envelopes.

Processes print-ready orders, including certificates, programs, charts, reports, and programs.

Maintains and performs in a safe workplace and follows established safety practices.

Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

High school diploma or GED

One year of related experience

Knowledge of:

Microsoft Office Professional or similar application

Fiery Command WorkStation or similar program

Graphic design tools including QuarkXPress, Adobe Illustrator, and Photoshop, or similar applications

Skilled in:

Attention to detail while maintaining effective time and task management

Delivering a high level of customer service

Ability to:

Effectively communicate verbally and in writing on a regular basis with internal and external customers, build relationships, and manage customer expectations

Thrive in a fast-paced environment, capacity to prioritize, process, and execute multiple projects at a high level of accuracy and attention to detail

Licenses, Registration, Certifications, or Special Requirements:

Regular physical attendance required

Valid Florida driver's license

Requires travel between campus locations

Work Environment and Physical Demand:

Lift, carry, push, pull, install, or remove objects weighing 20 to 49 pounds

Lift, carry, push, pull, install, or remove objects weighing in excess of 50 pounds

Reach and grasp objects

Stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, or crawl

Stand for extended periods of time

Use of video display terminal

Use of manual dexterity and fine motor skills

Identify and distinguish colors and shades of color

Communicate information orally and in writing

Receive and understand information through oral and written communication

Proofread and check documents for accuracy

Work with equipment or perform procedures where carelessness may result in injury

Experience exposure to uncomfortable work environment due to extreme temperature, noise level, and other conditions

Operate a motor vehicle

Work a fluctuating work schedule

The minimum base pay for this position starts at $15.78/ hr; however, the offer may vary based on the candidate's education and experience.
