Entry-Level Lighting Designer

to join our integrated team of Architects, Engineers, Interior Designers, Landscape Architects, and Master Planners. You will have the opportunity to collaborate with team members across studios on projects that are both local and across California and Texas. What you will do:

The Designer will assist lighting designers, architects, engineers and project managers in the execution of specific assignmentsPrepare lighting design calculations for proof of concept and to confirm wattages and documentation for schematic design, design development and construction documentsDocument selected design via lighting layouts, photometric calculations and lighting details.Create a lighting fixture schedule with detailed specification information including product descriptions, manufacturer, model numbers, finishes and equals.Understand and implement relevant sections of the IES Handbook; familiarize yourself with the layout and content in order look up required information.Incorporate district and campus standards where applicable.Establish desired light levels for all space types.Select lighting equipment based on aesthetics and functional requirements as well as project budget.Participate in all design charettes with multiple disciplines contributing to the projectReview and process construction administration documentsResearch, interpret and apply various types of lighting-related local code requirements.Understand and implement relevant sections of the IES Handbook; familiarize yourself with the layout and content in order look up required information.Incorporate district and campus standards where applicable.Familiarize yourself with basic lighting-related Title 24 calculations and documentation.Attend lighting-related site visits and punch walks as required, to monitor the progress of the project and identify any discrepancies between the design and the constructed lighting system.What we will do:

Bachelor's or Master's Degree in lighting design, interior design or related field0-2 years of experience in the design of building lighting systemsEnthusiastic commitment to the multidisciplinary design process and team environmentStrong written and verbal communication skillsCurious and open minded to learn and assume increased responsibilitiesCommitted to building a long-term professional careerEntry-Level Lighting Designer Preferred Requirements:

Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit, and good knowledge of industry software

The salary range for this position is $62,000 - $90,000 and is eligible for an annual bonus. If you are hired at LPA, your base salary is based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, experience and/or project complexity.
