Our passionate team of developers help shape our studio, our projects, and our future.As an Associate Motion Capture Assembly Artist, you will play a pivotal role in the development of realistic character animations for our video game projects. You will work closely with the motion capture team to process, clean, and assemble motion capture data into usable assets for integration into our game engines. Your attention to detail, technical proficiency, and creative problem-solving skills will be essential in delivering high-quality animations that enhance the immersive experience of our games. This role will be based in our Playa Vista office.Responsibilities: Asset Assembly: Assemble motion capture data into coherent animation sequences according to project requirements, ensuring smooth transitions between movements and actions. Data Processing, as needed: Receive raw motion capture data and process it using specialized software tools to clean, refine, and enhance the quality of motion data. Quality Control: Conduct thorough quality checks on assembled motion capture assets to identify and address any issues such as clipping, jittering, or unnatural movements. Collaboration: Work closely with motion capture technicians, animators, and other team members to ensure seamless integration of motion capture data into the game engine. Optimization: Optimize motion capture data to meet performance and memory constraints without sacrificing visual fidelity or animation quality. Documentation: Maintain detailed documentation of motion capture processes, procedures, and asset specifications to facilitate efficient workflow and knowledge sharing within the team. Problem Solving: Troubleshoot technical challenges related to motion capture data processing, assembly, and integration, proposing innovative solutions to improve efficiency and quality. Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on industry trends, advancements in motion capture technology, and best practices in animation production to continually refine and enhance our motion capture pipeline. Requirements & Skills: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Animation, Computer Science, or related field. Proficiency in motion capture data processing software such as MotionBuilder, Blade, or similar tools. Strong understanding of animation principles, human anatomy, and biomechanics. Experience with 3D animation software such as Maya, 3ds Max, or Blender. Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., Python) for automation and tool development is a plus. Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment. Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain high-quality standards while meeting project deadlines. Passion for video games and a desire to contribute to the creation of immersive and engaging gaming experiences. Knowledge of Unreal Engine is a plus, but not required. This is a temporary "Project Hire" position. The anticipated duration of this assignment will vary. In addition to base pay, this role may be eligible for other incentive compensation including equity and profit share.
