Polysomnographic TechnicianRieLes Group is seeking a part-time (2 nights a week) Polysomnographic Technician to support the McDonald Army Health Center located in Ft. Eustis, Virginia. This is an opportunity to provide care for our active military service members and their families in the Tidewater Community.

Position Description

The Sleep Study Technician will work under the direct supervision of the Pulmonary Provider. The Sleep Study Technician in this position shall perform services in accordance with the professional standards of McDonald Army Health Center. The employee shall have the following knowledge and abilities, but may not necessarily be limited to:Must be able to recognize abnormally functioning equipment and render initial repairsMust take steps to discontinue study when repairs cannot be madeMust have practical knowledge of a wide range of technical methods, principles, and practices applicable to sleep studyTechnician must-have skill to independently plan difficult assignmentsTechnician must have an advanced understanding of sleep disorders and skill to independently perform procedures involving very fine distinctions and fine-tune complex computerized precision instrumentsMust have an advanced understanding of physiology, especially in relation to cardiopulmonary functionMust have an advanced understanding of electromyography (EMG) and its application to sleep studyMust be able to provide a variety of detailed diagnostic tests monitoring of patientsMust use tact in establishing and maintaining communication and have no objection or difficulty in viewing partially or fully disrobed patientsTechnician must be able to communicate effectively when explaining to family the testing and monitoring procedures to be performedQualifications

Must be a licensed Polysomnographic TechnicianA minimum of one year experience performing similar dutiesBasic Life Support (BLS) certified by the American Heart AssociationAbility to read, write, speak, and understand EnglishKnowledgeable of a body of standardized patient care and skill sufficient to perform proceduresWorking knowledge of equipment and supply terminologyKnowledgeable and possess skills necessary to provide care appropriate to any age-related needs of patientsMust be authorized to work in the United States of America
