We’re seeking an inventive and skilled Sr UX Designer to concept, prototype, develop, and test new-to-world products and experiences with novel interaction models and paradigms. This role will own key aspects of the user experience and is on a cross-functional special projects team, whose charter is to invent & bring to market transformational consumer products using advanced technologies. Amazon Devices (Lab126) began with the Kindle e-reader, and now invents & develops products like Fire tablets, Fire TV, Echo smart speakers, Echo Show smart displays, the Amazon Glow projector, Echo Frames smart audio glasses, and the Amazon Astro robot. We're at the forefront of ambient computing, a new paradigm where technology is always present, interaction is intuitive, and it disappears when not in use. If you are excited about inventing the future of spatial computing and shipping your ideas to millions worldwide, we'd love to meet you.Key job responsibilitiesContribute across the product development process including product opportunity and use case analysis, workshop facilitation, and the creation of low-fidelity wireframes, high-fidelity mockups, interactive prototypes, and detailed specs.Become a domain expert through daily use of prototypes, competitive, and complementary products to develop a deep product intuition.Work directly with product management to identify opportunities, use case analysis, workshop facilitation in order to support product strategy.Use design reviews & critique to drive continuous improvement towards a minimal, polished, and delightful user experience.Research and understand the capabilities and limitations of advanced sensing, display, and generative AI technologies and their impact on the user experience.Drive qualitative user research to explore and validate product/design decisions. Regularly talk with customers, document insights, and champion features & improvements.Provide real-time feedback to technical stakeholders by evaluating prototypes and internal builds to improve or simplify the design spec based on constraints or new information.Collaborate with teams across the entire Amazon Devices & Services organization to bring cross functional features and services to life.Own the presentation of your strategy and decisions to senior leadership and cross-functional partners. Work within an integrated product management & CX team and side-by-side with hardware, engineering, ID and other stakeholder teams to turn user stories into detailed product requirements, mockups, and prototypes.About the teamWe thrive on creativity, collaboration, and continuous learning. The project team is anchored in downtown San Francisco, with a flexible WFH schedule with in-person meetings for co-located reviews and development. Team members can be based in the San Francisco Bay area with 3 days a week in the SF office.BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- 6+ years of design experience- Have an available online portfolio- Practical knowledge of user-centered design methodologies, usability principles, information architecture and design.- Thrives in the ambiguity of building something new to world. Experience unpacking an opportunity through divergent exploration, rapid prototyping and testing early concepts, in close collaboration with product management.- Comfortable pivoting quickly and working a variety of design spaces, projects, and stakeholder groups.- Excellent communication, presentation, interpersonal and analytical skills including the ability to communicate complex, interactive design concepts clearly and persuasively across different audiences and varying levels of the organization including executives.- Proficiency designing and prototyping with a variety of tools such as Figma, Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.- Experience working on a collaborative team, brainstorming, white-boarding, and working directly with product and technical stakeholders- Experience designing for complex 0-to-1 products, services, or experiences that are customer facingPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Bachelor's or Masters degree in a related field or equivalent professional experience- Experience designing for complex 0-to-1 products, services, or experiences that are customer facing- Self-starter with a bias for action, able to reframe leadership requests into clear, actionable design tasks- We are a small team and folks wear many hats. Along with core UX competencies, a demonstrated depth of knowledge within additional discipline(s) is encouraged (e.g. UX research, visual/motion design, creative direction, prototyping, technical understanding or workshop facilitation)
