ABOUT CEEJHThe Center for Engagement, Environmental Justice, and Health (CEEJH, Inc) is a new nonprofit focused on helping communities impacted by environmental, climate, and energy injustice with a focus on the Mid-Atlantic region, the Southeast, and other parts of the United States and beyond.. CEEJH, Inc provides technical assistance and capacity-building support to help impacted communities address environmental racism, environmental classism, oppression and related health inequities by following the 17 Principles of Environmental Justice and through INpowerment Science and Liberation Science. CEEJH, Inc continues the vision of Dr. Sacoby Wilson, one of the nation’s leading environmental justice researchers, scholars, and advocates to advance environmental, climate, and energy justice through service and the authentic engagement of local grassroots environmental justice organizations in community centered, justice-focused applied action-oriented solutions science. CEEJH is about dismantling racist systems, developing cross-sectoral partnerships, and demanding change to ensure that frontline and fenceline communities receive the recognitional, procedural, distributional, and restorative justice that they deserve.Position OverviewCEEJH, Inc is looking for candidates who are well-organized, self-directed, and committed to excellence. The grant writer will research, identify and write grant proposals, and perform grants management. The grant writer must be highly organized, detailed oriented and exceptional in written and oral communication. The grant writer will provide technical assistance and support to community partners including grassroot frontline and fenceline environmental justice organizations to help build their capacity to successfully submit grant proposals and perform grants management.Core Responsibilities:Develop and write compelling, substantive, outcomes-oriented, multi-year proposals and reports, collaborating across programs to develop project narratives, objectives and deliverables that are aligned with our mission, strategic priorities, and capabilitiesCollaborate with relevant staff, soliciting, sharpening, and distilling relevant material for proposals and reports, coordinating the drafting processes and review loops, and delivering high-quality, timely final products for funding agencies and other relevant entitiesResearch grant opportunities from government and non-government agenciesDevelop proposals, writes grants, gathers supporting documentation, and submits them to granting agency in a timely manner, meeting all agency guidelines/requirements, and complying with all applicable laws, regulations, policies, and proceduresRespond to internal and external queries on drafted and submitted proposalsMaintain positive relationships with funders and other stakeholdersMaintain records and submit reports related to grant opportunitiesContact and follow up with granting agenciesEnsure quality, accuracy, and completeness of all submitted grant proposals well researched, well-written, well-documented, with a well-developed budgetMeet established benchmarks for submission of federal and non-federal proposalsSolve problems effectively, efficiently, and creatively utilizes sound judgment and maintains strict confidentialityDevelop and maintains a master file of pending, existing, and past grants and contractsProvide grant writing and grants management technical assistance and support to community partners and grassroots environmental, climate, and energy justice organizationsDue to the demand of grant proposal development and submission due dates, the applicant will be required to work evenings and weekends to develop strong proposals and meet submission deadlines as neededPerform other relevant duties as neededREQUIREMENTS:This will be a fast-paced, dynamic role that requires excellent communication skills, a strong team drive, and an ability to self-start.MinimumB.S. degree (MS preferred) in finance, business management, English, non-profit management, communication, public health, environmental science, science writing, or a related fieldAt least five years of experience in grant writing3+ years of experience in grants managementSuccessfully secured at least $1,000,000 in grants from federal and/or non-federal sources of funding during their careerStrong proposal development, research, and writing skills, with the ability to plan, coordinate, organize, prioritize and simultaneously implement multiple projects requiring inputs from partners across the organizationKnowledgeable of funding sources, compliance issues, and legal and fiscal policies of funding sources and appropriate agencies (federal, state, local and private), as applicableExperience submitting proposals through sam.gov, grants.gov, etc including completion of all relevant administrative documentsA high level of motivation, initiative and attention to detail demonstrated by the proactive inclination to identify, highlight, and respond to development needsOutstanding written and verbal communications skillsSuccessful track record working in fast-paced, opportunity-rich environmentProficiency in MS Office suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, MS Teams, etc.)Experience handling confidential information with high level of discretionA friendly, collegial personality with compulsive integrityExcellent command of English grammar, spelling, punctuation, syntax, and compositionHighly organized and detail orientedMust be supervise other employees.EXPECTED HOURS OF WORKStandard days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Daily schedule is flexible within the proximity of this time frame, and will be decided in consultation with the supervisor. The employee may be required to work in the evenings and on weekends occasionally to meet proposal deadlines.TRAVELNo significant travel expected. Occasional domestic travel may be required for meetings with community partners, technical assistance activities, and conferences.
