About Watershed

Watershed is a software platform for running a world-class climate program. We measure our success in the carbon reduction achievements of our customers. We are looking for team members who love product-building, want to work hard at a mission-oriented startup, and will collaborate with us in shaping the culture of a growing team.

We have offices in San Francisco, New York and London and remote team members across the US and Europe. We hope that you'll be interested in joining us!

The role

The role

Partnering closely with teams across Watershed (from product to sales, policy to leadership, and more), you will play a critical role in defining Watershed’s messaging, positioning, audience segmentation, launch plans, and go-to-market strategy for a major product area within the Watershed platform. We’re looking for an energetic marketer who thrives in a fast-paced environment, and is motivated to set and deliver on bold targets in a rapidly evolving market.

Our ideal candidate will be a seasoned product marketer with a proven track record of clear, compelling product messaging that delivers results. You’ll be someone who loves rolling up their sleeves to get the job done, and is equally comfortable––and excited––to take new products to market, make a product demo, create compelling positioning, do a competitive analysis, or analyze performance metrics. Our audience is discerning, and the right person will have a high bar for creativity and execution, even if they’re not (yet!) experts on climate, but passion for our mission is a big plus.

We prefer this role to be in our San Francisco or New York city offices, but this position can also be remote in the US.

You will:

  • Define and implement the product marketing strategy for your product area, from messaging and positioning to audience segmentation, competitive analysis, and routes to market
  • Partner closely with the product, sales and policy teams, to define messaging and positioning, create compelling materials for sales teams and marketing campaigns, and launch new products, features, and solutions to a highly competitive market.
  • Source and analyze audience, customer, and market insights to inform our Product and GTM strategy and roadmap for the core platform
  • Define & implement your product’s marketing launch strategy, including release marketing, launch tiering, and customer engagement
  • Work with other product marketers to build a coordinated positioning architecture and go-to-market approach
  • Engage with Watershed customers, industry analysts, and internal teams (Sales, Customer Success) to identify and evangelize Watershed’s key buyer personas, value proposition, and key differentiators
  • Be a subject-matter expert on our product strategy, roadmap, and features of our core platform, and use your knowledge to equip our Marketing team to deliver compelling content and campaigns
  • Work with Sales to develop a comprehensive sales enablement strategy, including developing key sales collateral (pitch decks, call scripts, battlecards, demos, plays, etc.), competitive positioning, and defining the sales engagement strategy
  • Share accountability for lead generation and pipeline targets, with a data-driven approach to optimizing our messaging, positioning, and go-to-market plans
  • Build and reinforce a culture of diversity, inclusion, and high performance

In any given month, the types of projects you’ll work on may include:

  • A launch for a new product or solution
  • New demo videos or product tours for sales to share with prospects
  • Product roadmap sessions for customers and GTM teams
  • Event content that highlights Watershed’s product innovation

You might be a fit if you have:

  • 5+ years of B2B product marketing experience
  • A strong track record of product messaging, positioning and strategies for B2B enterprise software products
  • Strong writing and storytelling skills enabling them to translate complex subjects into compelling narratives.
  • A customer-first mindset that translates into crisp, differentiated messaging & positioning; uniquely compelling events; and consistently stellar experiences across every touchpoint
  • Comfort with fast-paced, scrappy environments, with a bias for action and a willingness to roll up your sleeves and get stuff done
  • A deep (and a little nerdy?) interest in how software products work, particularly in the climate space, combined with a growth mindset

At Watershed, we strive to design consistent, fair, and competitive compensation programs. The total cash compensation range may be inclusive of several levels at Watershed and final offer will be determined by a number of factors, including the candidate’s skills, capabilities, and location, as well as scope of the role.

The anticipated cash compensation range is in addition to a total rewards benefit package including equity, health/dental/vision insurance, 401(k), unlimited paid time off, paid parental leave, fertility, and mental health programs etc.

Salary Range

$167,000—$180,000 USD

FAQ

Where does Watershed work?

We have hub offices in San Francisco, New York and London, and some remote team members in the US and EU. Most of our jobs need to be in San Francisco / New York / London, but certain jobs are open to being remote and will be specifically noted on the jobs page and in the job description.

What’s the interview process like?

It starts the same for every candidate: getting to know the team members through 1 to 2 conversations about Watershed, your experience, and your interests. Next steps can vary by role, but usual next steps are a skill or experience screen (e.g. a coding interview for an engineer, a portfolio review for a designer, deeper experience call for other roles) which leads to a virtual or in person interview panel after that if the screens go well. We prioritize transparency and lack of surprise throughout the process.
